He snorted. “Come with me, and meet my wife. You will soon know how you are considered. Himyana does not pull her punches.”

They walked across lush bluish grass, and she walked next to him with her hands together. The guards were stern, but they did double-takes when they saw her.

A woman with golden hair, an excited expression, and a belly that looked eight months along came out of the building.

“Is that her?” The woman laughed and smiled. “She’s so tiny.”

The first lady was five-eight and further along when she turned sideways. She had a really good seamstress.

The president kissed his wife, and watching it made Lyra’s eyes widen. That wasn’t a chaste peck on the lips. He was checking her tonsils, and she was returning the favour.

His wife was limp in his arms when he lifted his head. She exhaled. “Ah. Right. Missed you, too.”

He grinned. “Himyana, high lady of the MaKorith, this is Omega Yten Lyra.”

Lyra curtsied. “Pleased to meet you, Lady.”

Himyana looked her over, and the president closed the doors they had walked through while he had been kissing his pregnant wife.

Lyra stood still as the woman walked around her.

“You are adorable. May I hug you?”

“Sure.” Lyra stood still while the much taller woman hugged her, and her nose was near the lady’s collarbone. The swell of the belly was kicking.

Himyana hummed happily and rubbed her hands over Lyra’s back and up to her neck. She moved her cheek against Lyra’s, and the humming turned to soft sighs. “You feel so good. Your skin is so soft.”

“The baby seems healthy.”

Himyana lifted her head. “Hm? Yes. Very. It will be in my arms in four weeks or less.”

Lyra blinked, and the woman kept stroking her cheeks.

“Okay, I can see why alphas were pissed when omegas were destroyed. If I had you with me, I would cuddle up with you every night.”

Lyra blinked again and cocked her head. “I knew I was some kind of doll.”

The president laughed.

Himyana sighed. “Imko. You didn’t tell her that, did you?”

“No. She is learning from the situations around her and guessing at her position.”

The woman looked around. “You didn’t bring clothing for her?”

Lyra sighed. “Nope. He picked me up like a toy and hauled me through the facility. You will probably have to send in a request for more clothing for me.”

Himyana waved that away. “I have a seamstress in the building. She will be delighted to work on you.”

“Uh, how long am I going to be here?”

The lady grinned. “Until some of the alphas believe we actually have a working omega.”

“Am I a living thing or some kind of robot?” Lyra looked at her hands.

The two looked at each other, and they frowned. The president said, “You are a living entity. The blank they used was based on a genetic sample from a female omega. If you have all the reproductive function that the scans indicate you have, you should have a normal omega life.”

Himyana grinned. “Right down to the marking and mating.”
