After dinner and reading time, they put the three kids to bed. Dakota paced the living room floor, full of apprehension now.

Oh, she had tried the front door and the back door, and it seemed they had locked her in. She didn’t know the code to open either door.

She was screwed; she was soon to be spanked.

No. She had to stand her ground.

Maybe they were just trying to scare her.

Nope. She wasn’t going to take that chance.

Taking a heavy wooden ornament with her, she rushed to the front door, her intention being to smash it into the glass, then run and never look back.

It was just too much for her to worry about. Not only did she have to not tell them the truth, but she also had to worry about how her body would react if they touched her again.

Dreaming about them in such graphic detail had made her a little nervous.

Being kissed by them in real time resulted in her whole world slipping off its ass and descending into addictive chaos.

If they touched her again...

Nope.

She raised her arm and aimed.

"It’s not going to break," Zachary said.

"But you could hurt yourself, and if you do, that’s going to cost you five more strikes," Preston added.

Fuck her luck.

Without turning around, she bit her lip, which was still a little swollen from when they had kissed her.

Okay, so she was going to have to talk her way out of it. She turned and faced them.

Zachary came toward her.

"Okay, look. You have to believe me. It was dumb luck. If you know me, you know I have the worst luck in the world. Ask my dad. Okay, he’s dead, but I inherited his propensity for bad luck. I just wanted to work here. And I…

"Now I know you’re joking about this whole downstairs, bench, naked spanking thing. If you wanted to scare me, it worked. I’m sorry for fooling you."

"You had a chance to tell us the truth. You blew it," Michael reminded her. Argh.

Zachary covered more of the distance.

"Just wait…" She put her arm out, realized she wasn’t going to stop them, and then did the only thing she could.

She ran.

For three seconds before Zachary caught her and flipped her over his shoulder. "Put me down, you big… Neanderthal. What is wrong with you three? Are you insane?" She punctuated her words by punching her fists into the back of his thighs, only hitting muscle.

"What are you made of?" she wailed as Zachary carried her off. Michael and Preston seemed to lead the way. "Concrete?" she shouted.

"Hush or you’re going to wake the kids."

She opened her mouth, then closed it again.

But that didn’t stop her from softly delivering a slew of insults their way while she questioned the state of their mental health and the size of their fragile ego.
