There is nothing I would deny this girl, which is insane since we’ve only really known each other for a few days. And nights, the demon in my head whispers.

Whatever. It feels right.

Daisy raises her head from the loveseat and looks over at me, giving me a soft chuff as she looks at me with those deep, soulful eyes.

“What is it, girl?” I ask.

She chuffs again and a moment later, there’s a knock on the door. I get to my feet and cross to the door. I don’t normally have visitors so I’ve got a good idea who’s on the other side of the door and when I open it, my stomach churns and my pulse races as I look into her smiling face.

“Hey,” I say.

“Hey,” she replies and her smile dims. “Mom’s got people over and I was hoping I might be able to seek shelter here.”

“You know you’re welcome here any time,” I reply.

I step aside and hold the door open, savoring the light citrusy scent wafting off her body as she passes by me. Closing the door behind her, I walk into the living room as she greets Daisy with some scratches behind her big, floppy ears and a kiss on the top of her big head, then drops down onto the couch. I sit down and feel the heat coming off Lanie’s body. My staff immediately responds with a twitch and as my groin tightens, I do my best to tamp down the fire burning inside of me.

“Hockey again?” she asks.

“Hockey again,” I reply.

“You really love this sport.”

I nod. “I do.”

“Did you play?”

“I did. For a while. Mostly just rec leagues. But it was fun.”

She nods and we sit in silence for a few minutes, watching the game. But when I cut a glance at her, I notice that she’s not really looking at the TV. There’s a tension around her eyes and her lips are pursed. It probably has something to do with her mom.

“Everything okay?” I ask.

“Yeah. Fine,” she replies.

“You sure? I mean, if your mom did something to upset you, I want you to know that you can talk to me,” I tell her.

She shakes her head. “It’s not that.”

“Then what is it?”

She gnaws on her bottom lip for a moment, unable to meet my gaze. I wonder what’s up. Is someone bothering her again? Do I have to break someone’s jaw? But then she turns to me, and her expression softens.

“I just… I keep thinking about the other day,” she says quietly. “In the parking lot.”

My pulse hammers in my temple and my cock stirs once more. Knowing she’s been thinking about what happened the other day lights the fire in me I’ve been trying to keep banked. I keep the excitement off my face though, not knowing exactly where she’s going with this yet and not wanting to jump the gun or make any assumptions.

“Yeah? What have you been thinking about?” I ask.

“It’s just… I mean… I know you’ve probably been with more people than I can count, but I’ve never been with anybody before. And I don’t want you to think I didn’t want to do… it. It wasn’t you and I feel bad about—”

“Like I said, you have nothing to feel bad about, Lanie. It’s all right.”

“I just didn’t want my first time to be in a car, you know?”

“I get it. And I understand,” I reply. “You don’t have to explain yourself to me, and you certainly don’t need to apologize for anything. And as for me being with more people than you can count, hate to disappoint you but you’re wrong.”

The corners of her mouth flicker and she gets to her feet. She pins me to the couch with her vivid blue eyes and all I can do is watch as she unzips her skirt and lets it fall to the floor.
