“You know exactly what I’m talking about,” she teases, wiggling her eyebrows. “You totally slutted it up, didn’t you? Who was it?”

The laugh bursts from my mouth before I can stop it and I clap a hand over my mouth. Not quick enough to avoid drawing the attention of the diners though, which only makes Gwen smile wider as she giggles.

I don’t have many friends, but of the ones I have, I feel closest to Gwen. I guess you could say she’s my best friend. There aren’t many people I share the personal details of my life with. It’s pretty much only Gwen. And she has been a longtime advocate of me finding somebody special—or just somebody to get down and have a good time with.

“You are absolutely awful,” I pout.

“Just so you know, that’s not a denial,” she says.

“No, I suppose it’s not, is it?” I reply with a mysterious tone in my voice.

Gwen squeals and follows me as I walk over to the soft drink fountain and pour myself a soda. As I take a drink, I give her a little wink, which makes her laugh.

“Tell me who it is,” she says. “Who was worthy enough to deflower my young Lanie?”

“Nobody you know,” I reply.

“Hence the reason I asked who deflowered my girl.”

As I think about my evening with Lane, I feel my body tingling from head to toe—and every place in between. Not to mention I’m sore in places I didn’t even know I could be sore. But every time I move and one of those sore spots makes me wince, it's immediately followed by a smile simply because of the memory of how that little flash of pain came to be.

“My God, look at that smile,” Gwen says. “This wasn’t some rando Tinder hookup.”

“What do you mean?”

I blow out a long breath and pull on the end of my ponytail as I shift on my feet. My stomach churns and I’m unable to keep the smile off my face. The memory of Lane’s hard, toned body pressed to mine, the taste of his mouth, and the feel of him so deep inside of me has me trembling. It has me flushed and quivering.

“Do you remember me telling you about my landlord?” I ask.

“No,” Gwen almost shrieks as she grabs my arm. “You have to be kidding me.”

I shake my head. “I’m not. We’ve been sort of hanging out lately. He’s teaching me to drive and has given me a place to hide out from those skeevy pricks my mom hangs out with. Anyway, we kind of got hot and heavy while he was giving me a driving lesson,” I tell her. “And then last night, we… you know—”

“Banged like jackrabbits.”

I laugh. “I feel like it was a little bit more romantic than that, but… yeah. Basically.”

Gwen takes my hand and squeezes it tight, bouncing up and down on her heels, her smile so wide I’m half-afraid it’s going to split her face wide open.

“Honey, I’m so proud of you,” she gushes. “It’s about damn time you gave it up. I was beginning to worry your hymen was going to turn into cement or something unbreakable.”

“That’s awful, Gwen,” I tell her, still giggling.

“That’s me!” she chirps. “So? How was it?”

“Unbelievable. He was incredible."

“Big? Long? Wide?” she grills me. “What’s he like down there?”

“I’m so not going to answer that question,” I reply, feeling my face flush.

“Oh, come on, you have to give me something.”

“Let’s just say he’s very well equipped,” I tell her, my face so hot, I’m surprised it’s not in flames right now. “And he definitely knows how to use what he’s got.”

“You are such a slut. I love it,” she squeals. “But I get the feeling there’s more to it than that. I think somebody’s caught some feelings.”

I look away, unable to hide my smile, let alone contain it. “It’s creepy that you just somehow know the things you know.”
