Soon, she started trembling. Her cries became more desperate and she held him tighter.

One good stroke was all it took. The moment he plunged deep into her, she shattered like glass that had been hit by a baseball bat. Bright lights erupted in her brain and her whole body erupted like a volcano, and she fell into desire’s nirvana.

Tazeem wasn’t far behind her. A few fast, short strokes later, he broke.

His release left him so worn, that he collapsed over her. However, once he caught his breath, he lifted off her and padded to the bathroom. When he came back, he was carrying a warm towel.

Chess moaned and stretched languorously as the warm towel flitted over her body, wiping her down.

“You like that?” Tazeem asked as he cupped her breasts with the towel.

“Mm.” She pushed her breast into his hand.

With a low chuckle, he continued to wipe her down. When he was done, he padded back to the bathroom then came back sans towel. He clambered back into bed and then gathered her into his arms. She melted easily into him, loving how warm yet hard his body was.

“Baby?” he called as he pushed a stray braid from her face.

“Mm?” She wiggled her body over his to get more comfortable.

“I forgot to ask you something.” He pressed a fast kiss to her lips before continuing, “I heard that Felicity quit your team today.”

Lifting her head off his shoulder to meet his eyes, she asked, “You heard? How? Do you have a spy in our office?”

“No.” He laughed before explaining, “My assistant, Peter, is seeing one of the guys in your office and it came up.”

“Which guy?” Chess sat up in bed. “Please don’t say Mark.”

Tazeem sat up too. “I don’t know if it’s Mark, but why is he off limits?”

“Don’t even ask.” With a sigh, Chess started, “He’s the reason why Felicity quit on us…”

She went on to explain everything that had happened earlier that day, including Felicity’s rage-quitting because Chess couldn’t decide who to let go.

“Are you sure that she’s been spying on you guys for Mark?”

“No, I’m not sure,” Chess reluctantly admitted. “But all the signs point to it, and Derrick seemed certain.”

Tazeem didn’t say anything to that. His brow furrowed even as he tilted his head.

She prodded. “What are you thinking?”

“I’m thinking about Derrick.”

“Derrick?” She frowned.

“Yeah.” Tazeem paused for a beat “Honestly, he’s the most suspicious out of your whole team.”

“Derrick? Suspicious?” Chess burst into laughter. Not just any kind of laughter; deep bellyfuls that had her shoulders shaking and her hunching over to clutch her tummy with both hands. Between laughs, she admitted, “I never knew that you were this funny.”

“I’m not trying to be funny. I’m very serious. Think about it.” Tazeem offered, “First, Felicity doesn’t strike me as the kind of person to be blinded by love. She’s too competitive, and her career seems very important to her. Your team losing to Mark doesn’t benefit her in any way. If anything, it would be like sabotaging herself. She wouldn’t do that, especially not for a relationship that she describes as hooking up one or two times.”

He added, “Besides, if Felicity wanted to sabotage your team, she wouldn’t have worked so hard to find another venue when the previous one was canceled.”

“That’s true,” Chess reluctantly admitted while still grinning. “But what does all that have to do with Derrick?”

“It weakens Felicity’s motive,” Tazeem said, “but it brings the spotlight to Derrick. He knew about the venue so he could’ve told someone if he wanted. Also, if only he and Felicity were the only ones who saw his list, then he’s a suspect too. He could’ve sent the list to Mark himself.”

She laughed. “You’re out of your mind. Derrick wouldn’t do that.”
