We waited until after nightfall, hired a small motorboat, and taxied ourselves out to the yacht. After signaling our approach per O’s instructions, we tied up near the twenty-seven-meter boat’s stern and were met by the AR-15-wielding woman.

“Hello, Nem,” she said when I came aboard first.

“Good to see you, O,” I responded, cheek-kissing her when she lowered the rifle. “Of course you know Wilder.” They cheek-kissed as well.

“Hello, Cayman,” O said, shaking his hand. “And Puck.”

“Shall we get started?” I asked.

O smiled. “Anxious as always. Follow me, Nemesis.”

She led me up one level and into a private salon. “Can I get you anything?” she asked.

“Water, please.”

She pulled out two bottles and handed one to me.

“I do appreciate this, O.”

“I will say your timing is…interesting.”

“We don’t have time to waste, I’m afraid.”

“Understood. So tell me how I can help you.”

“In two ways. Or perhaps three, depending on how it may all be related. First and foremost, we’re tracking a container shipment we believe originated somewhere in Iraq, Syria, or Turkey. That container made its way through—”

Oleander held up her hand. “I do not mean to be rude, but Z shared the brief with me. I hated to hear about the loss of life, Nem. One hundred and twenty-four victims is nothing short of heartbreaking.”

I nodded. “You know, then, about the other container that originated from Bulgaria. We’ve tracked that back to Lesovo and have eyes on a compound where we believe an extensive human trafficking ring is operating. The UN Coalition Against Human Trafficking is currently organizing a raid of that compound.”

“I see. So you’re anxious to find the origin of the other container before the raid takes place.”

“Correct.”

“I can help with that. You said there are one or two other items on your list?”

“The man who owned the lorries that picked up the containers in Purfleet was found murdered in Edirne.”

“Marko Mitskovski.”

“Yes.”

“What else?”

“Ivan Todorova gave us a name. Mithras. He said he was Mitskovski’s killer.”

O grinned and rolled her eyes. “Mithras did not kill Marko.”

“What makes you so certain?”

“I began tracking him before the murder took place.”

“Why would Todorova give us his name?”

O smiled. “Framing a rival for murder would be one way to eliminate them.”

“Who is Mithras?”
