“Did you call your dad?”
“I tried. But his phone went directly to voicemail. I didn’t leave a message. Then I had a grocery delivery and my mind started racing and I just…” She shrugged. “I’m sorry. I promise you I’m not a nutcase. I’ve never dealt with this much stress, and I guess I’m not handling it well.”
He took her hand and led her to the kitchen. He pulled the stools tucked under her table out and motioned for her to sit down. Then he took the stool next to her, but turned to face her. Pulling her hands into his, his eyes locked on hers.
“All those things you tried to say about me before. Special or different. I feel that for you, Lara. No one has ever been as special as you. I’ve given this a lot of thought, too. My heart calls out to you. My body responds to you. Not just,” he motioned toward his lower area. “Here. It obviously responds to you there. But, here.” He put her hand on his heart. “My heart gets excited when it sees you.”
He moved their hands to his chest. “And here. My breathing gets weird and sputters when you’re near.” He moved their hands to his head. “And, here. My brain is constantly thinking of you.”
“Tate.” Her voice was soft.
“I’m sorry we haven’t had this conversation before this. It seems like there’s always something going on or someone is around. And it’s a hard discussion to have because I didn’t want to chase you away.”
She burst out laughing. “Oh, my god. Tate. I couldn’t run from you. Ever.”
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him. She situated herself on his lap, her legs wrapped around his waist, her arms wrapped around his shoulders.
“I love you, Lara Bennit. You surprised me this morning. But, I’ve thought about what it means to love someone and everything I feel for you tells me I love you. I’ve never been in love before, so it took me a minute to understand my feelings.”
She looked into his eyes. The blue of hers was beautiful and true and mesmerizing. “I love you, Tate Vickers.”
Her lips touched his softly. Their kiss was a promise to each other. It was a promise he intended to keep. His arms slid up her back and he enjoyed the feel of her body pressed to his. Her legs wrapped around his waist made him think of other carnal thoughts and he thought with the doors locked, they could have sex here. It’d be one of the many places they would make love.
He pulled her blouse from the back of her slacks and his hands roamed up her naked back, the feel of her heated skin a balm to his fingers. She wriggled on his lap and he groaned.
“I’m going to have you right here, Lara.”
“Yes,” she whispered in his ear. Her tongue then circled the shell of his ear and he groaned again.
He reached around and slipped his fingers under her bra, squeezed her breast and made her breathing hitch.
Lara unbuttoned the front of her blouse and the instant she pulled it open, his mouth was on her breast. He suckled her into his mouth, and she rotated her hips to grind against his rapidly thickening cock.
The ringing of his phone was easy to ignore. At first. Her hips ground against him again and he put his hands on either side of her hips and ground her harder onto him. She gasped, and he intended to do it again when she stopped moving.
“Are you on duty? Do you have to answer?”

She giggled and pulled from him, then stood as he reached back and pulled his phone from his pocket. “Yeah.”
“Hey, are we interrupting something?” His mom asked.
“No, Mom. It’s good.”
Lara smiled at him, and he watched sadly as she buttoned her blouse and his boner quickly died as he listened to his mom.
“We’re only about fifteen minutes from Glen Hollow. Where should we meet you?”
He gave them directions to the bakery and pocketed his phone. “They’re almost here.”
“What do you think of your parents staying in my spare bedroom? I know they can stay in your room at the house, but it’ll be more private at my house, and you can spend more time with them. And so can I.”
“Are you sure?”
“I am.” She smiled at him and his heart swelled.
