“Not too much. He only comes into the bakery when he has to pick up something for his mom. Then, he’s usually nice enough.”

“Okay. Thank you for letting me know this stuff. I don’t want to run into him if I can help it.”

“You’re welcome. I heard he’s engaged to Ami Pearson.”

“From high school? That Ami Pearson?”

“Yes.” She could hear Lara moving around. Then a door closed. “She’s always had a crush on him. Throughout school, when you were dating him, she bemoaned the fact that he didn’t even know she existed.”

“You’re kidding!” Kenna sat up and shoved her hair off her shoulder. “I never knew that.”

“Well, you were working or with Colt. The rest of us had to listen to her complain. I suspect we’ll still have to hear her complain, though it will be for the reasons we all know, and she seems oblivious to.”

Gathering her hair together at her nape, she rotated her head. “Yeah.”

Spencer pulled his phone from his back pocket and tapped Aidyn’s number.

“Hey, there, what’s up?”

Spencer chuckled. “Not much. I hear you live in a house with two women.”

“Good lord, that I do.”

“She’s beautiful. Congratulations.”

“Thank you.” Cooing and little sounds came over the phone. “She’s unbelievable.”

“Everyone doing okay?” Spencer tried imagining his burly friend holding something as small as a baby, but the picture wouldn’t come.

Aidyn chuckled. “Everyone is great. Teagan sleeps like a champ, almost six hours at a crack, which we’re thrilled about.”

He chuckled. “That’s fantastic. Where did you get the name Teagan?”

Aidyn’s voice sounded unfamiliar. Like he was in a state of disbelief. “My dad’s grandma’s name was Teagan. He was telling us about her one night and we both loved the name.”

“It’s a noble name. I’m looking forward to meeting her, Aid. Congratulations again.” Spencer heard a little squeak of a sound, and Aidyn cooed. Spencer chuckled. “Dammit man, you’ve been domesticated.”

“I know it. But I’m not unhappy about it.”

He nodded and grinned. “Take care, man. Send my regards to Elena.”

“Will do Spence. It means a lot that you called.”

Spencer scoffed, as if he wouldn’t. “Shut up.”

He ended the call and pocketed his phone. He left his room to head out to the shooting range and met Henry leaving his room.

“Hey, did I see you talking to Colt Lowe at the site?”

His brows furrowed. “Yeah, you know him?”

“Only that he has a temper, and it’s wild. I’ve not witnessed it, but it’s a legend around the site.”

“Why do they keep someone like him on, then?”

Henry shrugged. “Great question for Baxter.”
