She sucked her bottom lip softly between her teeth and swallowed. “Thank you.” She stood on her toes and kissed his lips.

When she pulled back, his eyes rounded, then his brows rose into his hairline. His sensual lips slowly curved into the most beautiful smile. She sighed.

His head dipped, and she closed her eyes. The touch of his soft lips on hers beguiled her. She opened her mouth as far as she could and he accepted her invitation. His tongue slid sensually along hers, then slid back out before sliding in once again.

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Good,” she whispered.

His knees bent, and his hands slid to her behind. He lifted her up against his body, and he did it without hurting her. Her arms circled his neck and her legs wrapped around his waist. Pulling back, she stared into his eyes.

He kissed her bruised temple, and around her battered eye. “Kenna,” he whispered in her ear. His tongue then swiped around the shell of her ear, and a dizzying riot of feelings zinged through her body. She clenched her thighs. Spencer pulled back and locked eyes with her.

“I don’t know how to do this without hurting you.”

She kissed his neck, then her lips kissed a path up his jaw and to his ear where she mimicked his actions a moment ago. He huffed out a breath, and she smiled.

“Take me into the bedroom, Spencer,” she murmured.

He moved slowly down the short hallway to her bedroom. His muscles bunched under her hands which sent more excitement flying through her body. He laid her gently on the bed, so careful with her, she felt like a precious glass bauble.

He laid between her legs, holding himself up on his elbows. Their lips touched and moved. She could feel his desire grow both in the passion of his kisses and where their bodies touched. He rubbed his length against her, and she grew wet and hot and excited to make love to him.

As their bodies heated, the aroma of his aftershave floated around them and she inhaled deeply. She wanted to remember how he smelled and felt.

She wanted to remember him forever. She hadn't been with another man in years. The vulnerable feelings usually made her panic and run by this point.

But now, the last thing she wanted to do was run.

Spencer’s hands cupped her head as he gently kissed her face, then down her neck. He pushed her blouse up her body, careful not to brush her ribs, then his lips kissed her chest until he reached the lacy material of her bra. He pushed her bra up over her breasts and his mouth sucked her right nipple into his mouth and his tongue flicked it. She puckered so tightly the sensations ran straight to her core. She lifted her hips to push into his body, but he simply kissed across her chest to her left breast and played with her nipple. He sucked her breast firmly into his mouth and she huffed out a breath.

He began trailing kisses to the waistband of her slacks. The ringing of his phone breached their passionate sounds. He froze with his lips resting against her belly. It rang again.

“Fuck,” he muttered.

“Ignore it.”

“I can’t. What if it’s about Colt?”

She lay back against the bed, wishing she’d never hear Colt’s name. Ever again.

Spencer rolled to his back next to her as his phone rang again. He pulled it from his back pocket. “Yeah.” He huffed out.

She couldn’t hear who was on the other end of the phone, but it was a man’s voice. Spencer sat up, “When?”

He walked across her bedroom and looked out the window. “Okay.”

She turned to her side and pushed herself up to a sitting position, righting her bra and her blouse. Sadly.

“Okay. Thanks for letting me know.” He clipped.

He listened for a moment more and she took a deep breath, pleased that it didn’t send a gut punch from her sore ribs.

As he pocketed his phone, he turned toward her. “I have to go.”

“Where?”

“The construction office. The computers aren’t working and the security cameras are offline.”
