“We’ll be having words later,” I snap.

Wrath walks away with that fucking smile.

“James,” Hayley gasps. “Why were you so rude?”

I take a seat beside her. “We need to talk.”

Her shoulders slump forward as she sighs. “I guess he told you about what I heard, huh?”

“Tell me, sis, what the hell is goin’ on?”

She glances around the room, her eyes wide with fear. When I found her working at that fucking strip club, it was the first time I had seen her in years. I fucked up by letting her move away for college. But now she’s back, and I’m not making the same mistake twice. She and Eva are staying in my home, and I’m making sure they’re safe.

“I overheard a conversation between Pepper and Bubbles. They were talking about how much they hated that some of the brothers were no longer available, and that it wasn’t fair that they were losing the men they wanted.”

I should have known Bubbles was in on it too. Those women are as thick as thieves. “What else was said?”

Her tongue swipes across her bottom lip as she wrings her hands together. “I didn’t think they’d go through with it. If I did, I would have said something, James. Honest to God, I didn’t think they would be this stupid.”

“What did they say?” I ask again. She’s worried that she’ll be blamed when she shouldn’t be. If anyone has a problem with Hayley, they can come to me. I’ll ensure that the matter is dealt with.

“They both agreed to stop taking the pill. They also said that they would get the brothers so drunk they wouldn’t remember if they wore a condom or not.”

It was planned, something that I had thought, but couldn’t outright accuse. Fucking bitches.

“Do they know that you overheard them?” The last thing I want is for either of those bitches to target Hayley.

She shakes her head. “No. They had no idea I was behind them. But, James, there’s something else.” Hayley’s voice drops so that only I can hear her. “Bubbles said that when she got pregnant, she was going to lie and say that Ace got her knocked up.”

Rage burns inside me. Fuck. These women have gone too fucking far.

“I want you to go home,” I tell her as I get to my feet. “Wrath,” I say, loud enough so he can hear. “Stay with her. Shit’s about to hit the fan, and I want no comebacks on her.”

Wrath nods instantly, his eyes filled with determination as he pulls my sister to her feet.

“I’ve got her,” he assures me. Gone is the cocky playfulness he had when I came over to take a seat. Now he’s focused on the job at hand.

Once I know Hayley’s out of the way, I move through the clubhouse in search of Prez. It doesn’t take me long. He’s playing a game of pool with Mayhem. Something I’d never do. Those two are fucking sharks at the game, and I’d rather not lose all my money to the two of them.

“Py, you good, brother?” Ace questions when he sees me walking toward him.

Five years ago, this club went through fucking hell. We came out the other side, and it was all down to our president, Ace. The man’s a natural born leader. He’s fair to his brothers, and he gives a shit about us and the club.

“Need to talk to you,” I say, my voice hard. I’m trying to push the anger down, but I just fucking can’t. This shit is beyond fucked up.

He instantly puts down the pool cue and nods. “My office. Is this just a one-on-one or can May join?”

“May can join. Fuck, I’d bring your old lady too. Prez, this shit’s beyond fuckin’ crazy.”

His eyes narrow, and darkness swirls inside them. I don’t blame the man. His woman, Andromeda, went through hell at the hands of her father, and Ace is doing everything he can to make her life better than how it started.

I follow dutifully behind my president, wishing I wasn’t the one to be informing him of this shit. But he’s my brother. I owe him the truth. Seven years ago, Ace’s father gave me a way out of the anger and pain I felt at losing everything. I took it. I grabbed it with both hands and didn’t let go. I owed Jaws my life. But the man fucked up in a way that I could never stand by him.

The fucker gave his fifteen-year-old daughter over to a rival MC so that he could spare himself from the ramifications of his actions. Jaws allowed the President and other members of the Hangman’s Disciples to gang rape his daughter. He hid it from everyone in order to save his own fucking skin. The moment we uncovered the truth, Jaws never stood a chance. As much as I’d have fucking loved to have watched the asshole die, it wasn’t for me. Ace, Mayhem, Stag, and Digger got that honor. They were the closest to Kinsley; they deserved to be the ones to take out the man who orchestrated that shit.

Knowing that Ace had the guts to take out his own father, to stand against others who were against him taking out the president of the club, it showed me his true character. Sometimes, the right thing is the hardest, and standing against some of his brothers was hard, but he did it without breaking a sweat. Ace has more than earned my loyalty. I will forever have his back. No matter what.

“What’s going on?” Andromeda asks as we enter Ace’s office. Her voice is raspy due to her mother trying to kill her when she was a child. That rasp is sexy as fuck, but I would never admit that out loud. I’d risk Ace taking me out.
