“Anyone tries this shit again and you won’t make it out of this clubhouse alive,” Ace snarls. “As for Pepper and Bubbles, you are now banned from all Viper’s property. Your ass is seen anywhere near us, and you’ll face the consequences. Now, I want everyone to get the fuck out of here. The doc’s on his way for the girls.”

“Oh, and Pepper?” Eda smiles as the other women leave the room.

“What?” Pepper snaps, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at Prez’s old lady.

“You’re five months along,” Andromeda says, her tone frosty as fuck. I don’t recall a time I’ve ever heard her be so cold to anyone. “Now, I have no fucking clue as to why you believe it’s okay to string along the brothers, but that shit stops today. Who’s the father?”

Pepper’s back goes stiff as she stands taller, her lips pressed together, eyes filled with hatred. “It’s none of your business.”

Wrong fucking thing to say. Within seconds, Eda’s in her face, making Pepper take a step backward without even laying a finger on her.

“Wrong. You’re fucking with the brothers. That makes it all of our businesses. So, you either tell me, because we all know that this was pre-planned. You’re not goin’ to fuck just anyone, Pep. Or while the doctor’s here, he’ll do the prenatal paternity test.” Her raspy tone is deeper and angrier than before. Pepper’s chosen the wrong woman to piss off.

Pepper’s face visibly blanches. Her skin turns an almost translucent color. “You wouldn’t.”

“Try me,” Eda hisses. “Told you, bitch, your days of trying to fuck over the brothers are over. We’re going to find out who the father is and stop this bullshit of you stringing along the brothers to do your bidding. We all know the only reason they’re fucking entertaining it is because it could be their baby.”

“You’ve been given a choice,” Ace snarls. “You have three seconds to make it, or I’ll make it for you.”

“Preacher,” Pepper whispers. “Preacher is the father.”

Every brother is quiet. We all know what this means for Preacher. He’s got the next nineteen years of his life tied to this venomous bitch, and I have a feeling she’s not even begun to show just how fucked up she truly is.

Preacher grabs her arm and pulls her out of the clubhouse, Bubbles following behind them. All I can say is good fucking riddance that it’ll be the last we see of them.

“Get your hands off me, asshole. If you want to see your baby once it’s born, take your hands off me,” Pepper screams as Preacher continues to pull her away.

God, she’s a bitch. She’s going to make his life a fucking living hell, and there’s not a thing he can do about it. I thank my lucky stars that it’s not me, because there’s no way in hell the bitch would make it through the pregnancy alive.

CHAPTER SIX

CHLOE

“Want to tell me who’s been blowing up your phone?” my cousin Jade asks me as she takes a seat beside me. “You’ve been cagey as hell, Chloe, and I don’t like it.”

My heart pounds at the thought of my family finding out that my biological family have been in contact. I know it would break my parents’ hearts if they ever found out. “It’s my friends. They want to know everything that’s going on.”

I quickly send a final text to Sean Kelly Senior.

Me: I’m not a Kelly. I’ve never been one, and I never will be. I’m a Gallagher, through and through. Leave me the hell alone. I’ll never be one of you.

I quickly block his number and look up at my cousin. She gives me a look as though she doesn’t believe me, but thankfully, she doesn’t say anything else on the matter, which surprises me. My family are extremely hard-headed, inquisitive, and are known to do whatever it takes to get the answers they want. For Jade to leave it be, it has me curious as to what she’s up to.

“Chloe, are you sure you don’t want to stay with me a little while longer?”

I smile at her. I’ve been here for three days and have loved every single minute of it. Jade and her husband have been amazing for letting me stay with them, but I’m dying to meet the newest member of the family.

“I’m sure. I may come back before Da and I leave to go home.”

Jade’s ma is my da’s aunt. Our family tree is a little weird. My granda Seamus fell in love with my granny Molly, but she wasn’t a part of our world, and my great-granda Henry had already promised my granda to be wed to someone else. As much as Granda Seamus hated it, he had to marry Sharon. It didn’t matter that Granny Molly was already pregnant with my da. The arrangement had already been made, and there was no going back.

My aunty and uncles had no idea that my da existed for years. Now, we’re all one big happy family. They’re the best people I know. I’m a lucky girl to have so many people love and care for me.

“Your Mam must be missing you.” Jade smirks.

“You know Ma. She’s no doubt calling Da every hour to make sure we’re okay,” I say with a laugh. My ma is quiet and quite laid back, until it comes to her family, then she’s a mama bear. She’s always had my back, even from the moment I met her in the shopping center and was being bullied. Ma didn’t know me, yet she stood up for me, and from that day we grew an undeniable bond.

“No doubt. I’m pretty sure my Ma would be the same.”
