“Thank Christ,” he mutters as he turns away.

“She’s goin’ to need to see a doctor,” I tell them. “She needs to be checked out.”

“We’ll get her to the hospital,” Danny replies, his gaze intense as he stares at me.

“No,” I growl. “We don’t know what happened to her. Being surrounded by people she doesn’t know ain’t fuckin’ happenin’.”

“These fucking bastards,” Malcolm snarls. “They’re going to be in for a world of hurt.”

Oh, that they fucking are.

“We’re goin’ to fuckin’ kill every cunt who’s left alive,” I growl, and I know my tone has a lethal edge to it.

“First, we ensure Chloe’s okay,” Danny says. “Then, and only then, will we start on the bastards who hurt her.”

“Oh, I’m goin’ to enjoy killin’ them.” I won’t be pushed aside just because her family believes they deserve to kill them more than me. Chloe’s mine, and no one gets away with hurting my woman.

“Take her to Hayden’s,” Makenna instructs once we reach the vehicles. “We’re right behind you,” she says as she glances at her niece, who’s still unconscious in my arms.

Once I have her in the back of Kelvin’s truck, I keep her in my arms. I know not taking her to the hospital is the right thing, at least not until she wakes up and can tell us what she wants.

“Is she okay?” Kelvin asks as he speeds out of the Dirty Demons compound.

“She’s bruised, and that’s only what I can see,” I say through clenched teeth. I’m dreading to find out what has actually happened to her.

No one should have touched her. No one should have laid their hands on her.

“There’s only a handful of those fuckers left alive,” he tells me.

I grin into the darkness. Good. I can unleash this anger that I have bubbling inside of me. I’ll enjoy taking each and every one of them out.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

PYRO

Ipace the floor as the doctor checks over Chloe. Her mom and dad are in with her. I’ve never seen anyone look as devastated as Callie Gallagher did when she saw her daughter unconscious in my arms. The woman fucking crumpled when she caught sight of Chloe.

Denis, on the other hand, was pacing like a caged animal—much like I am now. I’m waiting for news to see how she is, to see if she’ll pull through this, but to also uncover what happened to her.

Everyone is waiting, and the mood is somber. Everyone paired off with their women, and my brothers are with the fucking animals who did this, watching over them until we arrive.

The door to the bedroom opens and the doctor walks out, Denis behind him. The man’s eyes are wet. I have no doubt that he’s been crying.

Fuck.

“I’ll show the doctor out,” Adelina says softly as she moves away from her husband, Hayden. She gives the doctor a soft smile and lets him walk ahead of her.

“She’s okay. She’s exhausted and malnourished. It’s going to take some time before she’s able to be out of bed,” Denis explains. “She’s got a broken nose, but the doctor has set it. Thankfully, nothing else was broken.”

There’s something he’s not telling me. I know he’s keeping it from us. That glint in his eyes is something I know all too well. It’s the same one I had when that cunt Carter hurt my sister.

“She’s resting right now,” he says, his gaze solely on me. “Why don’t you all go get some rest too. Let those cunts wait while we ensure Chloe is okay.”

Everyone disperses. Denis has spoken, and he’s not going to be ignored. The man holds a lot of weight with this family, even if he’s not the actual head of it. That still lies with his grandfather—Henry.

“I’m just going in to see her,” Danny says as he walks past me, his wife, Melissa, hot on his heels.

“Same,” Malcolm rumbles, and again, his wife, Raylee, is right behind him.
