“Ma, when I’m older, I want to find my one,” Mary says, watching us both.

I smile. Everyone deserves to find their person.

“You will, baby. I promise. When the time is right, you’ll find your one,” Ma promises her.

Mary’s smile lights up her face as she slides off the bed, yelling and screaming. “I’m going to find my one.”

“Your da’s going to have a fit if he hears her say that. He’s already having a hard time with you and Pyro. But he’s happy you’re home.”

He’s not the only one. I am too. I’m so damn happy to be back in Ireland, where I belong.

I just hope that it doesn’t spell the end to James and me, because losing him is something I won’t survive.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

PYRO

Ihave seven men watching me carefully. Chloe has a lot of people who care about her. I’m not angry that they’re trying to warn me off. I find it fucking amusing. They should know better. Chloe is mine, and I’m not letting her go.

Darkness has set and we’re standing in the middle of fucking nowhere. Unlike the city, there’s no high-rises, no smokey air, and there aren’t hundreds of people milling around. Instead, it’s fresh, clean air. The only sound you can hear is that of birds and animals scurrying along the ground. There’s no property for miles around us. We’re isolated, and I’m eager to see what’s about to happen. Keeping the Kelly fucker out here was clever. There’s no way for him to escape.

This shit of them trying to scare me off isn’t going to work. Denise, Danny, and Malcolm Gallagher aren’t glowering at me as much as the others, but they’re still not happy that I’m with Chloe. Jerry Houlihan, Butch O’Hara, Maverick O’Hara, and Stephen Maguire, all look as though they want to kill me.

I’m curious as to how Stephen Maguire is so tight with Denis Gallagher. From what I’ve heard about Stephen, he’s a maniac. He’s psychotic on the best of days, and you wouldn’t want to piss the fucker off. He kills people and doesn’t leave a trace. So the entire dynamic of Stephen Maguire being so close to the Gallagher’s is puzzling.

“Do they think they’ll scare you off, bro?” Preach questions with a wicked grin.

“We’re not trying to scare him off,” Maverick grunts. “We’re thinking of all the ways we could kill him if he hurts my niece.”

“You could try,” Raptor growls. “But then you’d be up against the entire Fury Vipers, and that’s not goin’ to work out well for you. We’ve taken out two entire chapters. We have no problem takin’ out an entire organization.”

Ace smirks as he leans against the vehicle, his arms crossed over his chest as he watches everyone.

“Enough,” Denis snaps. “Chloe loves the fucker, so we’re going to have to deal with him.”

Butch sighs. “What is it with my niece and her daughter? Both of them going for arses. Can’t they find someone their own ages?”

There’s a twelve-year age gap between Chloe and I, not that it bothers me. Whereas Callie and Denis have a twenty-year age difference.

“We gonna get this shit done?” I ask, pissed that we’re stalling right now.

Stephen straightens to his tall height and nods. “Let’s go,” he instructs.

We follow behind him as he enters a barn that’s been revamped, and by the looks of things, soundproofed. Sean Kelly is an older man, in his late sixties. His face is weathered, his wrinkles deep. He’s glaring at us, looking at us as though we’re beneath him. God, for an old dude close to death, he sure has a very high fucking opinion about himself.

“Gallagher,” he snarls, his words shaky. Jesus, he's truly close to death.

“Sean,” Denis returns. “Not sure why you’re surprised I’d be here. Everyone knows that Stephen’s part of our family and you’re in Stephen’s playground right now.”

“You’re an amadan, Gallagher. Fighting a fight that has nothing to do with you.”

“You had my daughter taken, tortured, and fucking brutalized. Myleanbh,” Denis snarls, his words filled with rage.

“Not your fucking anything,” Sean hisses. “My granddaughter. You’d best remember that. She’s a Kelly, not a Gallagher.”

“That’s what this is about, isn’t it? Chloe doesn’t want to be a Kelly. She is and will always be a Gallagher. She’s ours, and you’ll pay for everything that happened to her, just like your family did.”

Christ. The thickness of their Irish accents is unlike anything I’ve heard. With the anger of both men, their voices and accents deepen. Denis’ more so than Kelly’s.
