Said stranger huffs out a laugh and briefly glances my way before her eyes are back on the road. “Sound advice. You can call me Dani.”
A laugh bursts free at her answer.Guess we're playing pretend. This girl is funny. “Ha, okay,Danny. Well, you can call me Sandy.”
“No, I—”
“Do you do this often? Drive your friend’s late-night visitors home?”
“Nope, I’m a virgin,” she says and immediately cringes as I choke on thin air.Did not see the conversation heading in this direction.
“What I mean is…this is my first time.”
My brows rise as my lips pull into a grin.
Danny shakes her head with the slightest lift of her lips. “That didn’t sound any better, did it?”
“Both sounded amazing to my ears.” I smirk like I’m joking, butfuck meif she didn’t just become a little more intriguing.
Danny scoffs, side-eyeing me as she does. “Youwouldsay that.”
“Apparently so. Anyway, how long have you and Claire been friends?” I don’t really need to know this, but it feels like something I should ask since she’s driving me home.
Her eyes widen before she bites back a grin. “Do you mean Clara?”
Shit.“Isn’t that what I said?” Claire’s pretty damn close. I should get credit for that.
Danny bursts out laughing, quickly covering her mouth with her hand, and I smile at how cute she is.
“She laughs!” I joke, twisting in my seat once more. “Anyway, how long have you and…Clarabeen friends?”
Danny’s nose crinkles and her shoulders do that half lift thing again. “We’re notreallyfriends at all. She’s just my roommate.”
Huh?
“Okay. At the risk of sounding like a jerk, I’ve gotta ask…why take me home if you and Clara aren’t even friends?”
Danny shrugs, concentrating on the road so hard you’d think the streetlights had darkened. But just when I think she’s not going to verbally respond, she sighs. “Promise not to react if I’m honest?”
“I’d love to say yes, but I can’t promise that.”
She laughs again, and this time, her smile remains after she’s finished. “I’m procrastinating. Basically, I wanted to use you for my own personal needs.”
“What?”I try to bite back a smile but fail. This girl and her words. I want to tell her to use me however she wants, but considering I just ran out of her roommate's bedroom in the middle of the night, it’s probably inappropriate.
Danny continues on, oblivious to the wild thoughts running through my mind.
“I’m using you so I don’t have to lie in my bed alone and—”
“Okay. I have to stop you. Unless your goal is for me to picture you naked, then I suggest you don’t mention your bed again.”
The car screeches as Danny slams on the brakes, turning to me in shock. I laugh it off, hoping she’ll do the same, but she remains silent. When I open my mouth to apologize, her lips pull up into the smallest grin. “I guess that’s fair. After all, I got to see you naked.”
What the fuck?!My eyes practically bulge out of my head at her admission.Did she walk in on us? Should I be in this car right now? What kind of a person…
“Ah, shit.” Realization hits me, and I laugh.
“Yep,” she says, popping thep. “I copped an eyeful while you were getting dressed.”
“It’s a mouthful too,” I joke and am blessed with a giggle before she shakes her head. I think I see the smallest hint of a blush, but I don’t get time to focus on it before she turns back toward the road and the car starts moving again.
