“Okay, so Liam, have you?”

Liam’s nose scrunches before he frowns. “I don’t remember.”

His eyes get a little glassy, and his head drops. Shit, shit!

“It’s okay, Bud,” Logan says, dropping to his knees in front of Liam. “I can’t remember the last time I went either. Sometimes, these things leave your mind so you can remember new stuff.”

Liam looks to me for confirmation, and I nod. “Logan’s right. I once forgot how to ride a bike.”

“What? You forgot that?”

“I did,” I say, shaking my head with a fake grimace, and Liam nods.

“Okay, can we go on now?”

I bite back a laugh at his quick change in attitude and pat him on the back. “We sure can. I’ll go first.”

The second I enter the rink, a group speeds past me, forcing me back to the edge. Logan appears in front of me, one hand holding Liam’s, the other outstretched toward me.

“What do you say? Should we get Baby out of the corner?” he says, referring to theDirty Dancingcharacter.

I burst out laughing as he bounces his eyebrows, looking incredibly proud of his reference. “Okay, Johnny. Let’s go.”

Instead of reaching for Logan’s outstretched hand, I grab Liam’s other hand and let them both pull me farther onto the ice, finding my feet as I go.

“This is fun,” he calls out, even though we’ve barely left the entry, and a smile lights up my face.

We skate slowly in a line for a little while until Liam grows tired. I’m actually grateful he is new to this because it means I’m never alone and don’t have to pretend to be better than I am. For my own sake—not to impress Logan.

After taking Liam to the edge, he and I sit and watch Logan as he takes off in a faster skate, finally getting the chance to move, and of course, show off.He knows I’m watching.

When he zooms past us for his second loop, “The Time of my Life,” fromDirty Dancingblares through the speakers as the lights change to disco style. Logan twists to see me with a huge smile, his face alight with joy. That is until he wobbles and crashes to the ice. Ass down, legs in the air. An epic fall if ever I saw one.

I burst out laughing as Liam giggles beside me.

“Go, Peanut!” he calls out, making tears spring to my eyes.

“Should we help?” I ask, already reaching for his hand. Liam nods, and we step out onto the ice, skating toward Logan just as he stands.

“How’d you like that move?” he says, bouncing his eyebrows before biting down on his bottom lip, drawing my eyes there.

“It made my day,” I say distractedly, only snapping out of my daze when Liam pulls on my hand.

“Time for a snack, Aunty Dani.”

Logan ruffles his hair and moves in between us, forcing us apart as he wraps his arm around my shoulder and reaches for Liam’s hand. “I love that idea. Let’s go.”

Liam falls asleep within minutes of leaving the center, which I completely understand. I’m freaking exhausted.

I feel Logan’s gaze on me, but I try to ignore it until he drops a bomb on me that I probably should have seen coming. “I knew you were Liam’s aunt.”

What?! I slam on the brakes, screeching the car to a halt as Logan grips the door to stop himself from flying forward.

After quickly checking Liam’s okay, I sigh and whisper-yell his way. “You what? For how long?”

“A few weeks.” He shrugs, and my foot taps the brake again but I catch myself and continue to drive.

“Logan, what the hell? Why wouldn’t you have told me?”
