“A number of reasons but, come on, it's not a big deal.”

Not a big deal?! He knew. He freaking knew.

I fall silent with nothing left to say, my focus back on the road. I’m fuming. I can’t believe he did that. Why wouldn’t he tell me? What benefit is it to have kept a—

“You can’t stay mad at me forever.”

You bet your ass I can.“Logan, you knew!” I whisper-yell again. “You knew Liam was my nephew, and you never said a word. This all feels inappropriate now. Is that why you’ve been flirting with me? Because it’s forbidden. Because it gives you a kick.”

Logan scoffs. “In fairness, I flirt with everyone… but that’s not what this is. And it’s not forbidden. Who do you think is going to forbid it?”

What doesn’t he understand?

“We share a relative.”

“Doesn’t make us related, Dani.”

“Whatever, I’m still pissed.”

“Fine.”

“Fine.”

Logan picks up his phone and starts playing around on the screen in the car, until his music account comes up. I try to pretend I don’t care, but I’m a little intrigued at what song he’s going to put on.

“The Time of My Life,” starts, and I want to smile as I remember his fall, but I don’t. Instead, I continue to stare ahead, focusing on the road, pretending to be unaffected.

When that song finishes, Logan puts on “Greased Lightnin’,” making it even harder not to react, but I hold strong.

He runs through another three songs, all songs I love, and yet, I still remain stoic. That is, until “Let it Go,” fromFrozencomes on, and there’s no stopping my laugh or my need to sing out loud. Not only is this one of my favorite songs, but Logan’s miming as though he’s singing, and it’s impossible not to giggle.

“Alright. Alright. Jeez. You got me to laugh. Are you happy?”

The song changes, and “Happy,” fromDespicable Me 2starts up as Logan winks, making me laugh out loud again. He sure winks a lot.Why is that so hot?

Liam stirs from his car seat when my volume accidentally increases, but he doesn’t wake.

My smile flips to a glare, because it’s Logan’s fault my voice raised and he knows it.

“If you weren’t so grumpy, I wouldn’t have had to make you laugh.” He shrugs, resting his back against the door.

“Well, if you weren’t so annoying, I wouldn’t be grumpy.”What am I, twelve? He makes me feel twelve. He’s so young. Too young. And the big brother of my nephew. Yet, he looks at me like he wants to devour me and…it’s too weird.

“I’m still mad. But I’ll give you credit for trying to cheer me up. It’s freaky how well you know me.” It’s like he’s tapped into my mind. Every one of those songs is on my playlist and…hang on. My eyes widen as my gaze darts to Logan’s before settling back on the road. That little…

“How’d you find my playlist?” I ask in a subdued panic.

Logan closes his eyes, the pillar of relaxation. “It’s public.”

“What? How? No, it’s not.”

“Then how do I have it?” The tiniest smirk appears on his face before it disappears, replaced by his signature warm smile.

I can’t help but scoff. Isn’t it obvious? “Because you’re stalking me.”

Logan’s smile widens. “Okay, Dani. You think that.”

Liam wakes as we pull into the driveway, and Jenny takes one look at his flushed, just woken face, and groans. “Tonight’s going to be a late one.”
