I wait a second to see if she changes her mind, and when she doesn’t move, I start rubbing her through her jeans.

Her hips rise as she sinks farther back into me, giving me better access to her body, and when I release her wrist and massage her breast, she wriggles and quietly pants beside me.

“Your sounds are driving me crazy,” I whisper into her ear so softly she may not even hear me in her aroused state. “Can you feel what you’re doing to me?”

My hips rise to make certain she can. And when she reaches back to squeeze my neck, I know that she’s with me.

My heart pounds in my chest knowing we’re on borrowed time, but luckily Liam’s loud, so we’ll hear him coming.

Barely a minute later he calls out before the closet door flies open again. Dani jumps, giving us away, and I move my hands just in time for Liam to push the clothes aside and yell, “Found you!” before excitedly jumping around, none the wiser about what he just interrupted.

Dani bounces to her feet and congratulates Liam before walking toward the front of the house, mumbling as she goes.

“I’m really sorry, Liam. But I have to go. I’ll see you next week, though, okay? Thanks for today; I had lots of fun—”

“Especially then,” I say, cutting her off.

“Yes, especially then,” she rushes out without thinking, her eyes flashing to mine when she processes her words.

“Yes, well, it was all great,” she says, bending down to pull on her shoes. “Bye, boys.”

After her parting words, she disappears, leaving us in a puff of smoke. Metaphorically speaking.

Liam looks at the door for a second after she’s gone and then shrugs. “Your turn to count,” he says and takes off running toward my parents’ room, going to his second favorite spot.

I count silently and happily with a small smile on my face. Today certainly ended differently than I thought it would, but I’m pretty damn happy about it. I would bea lothappier if we hadn’t been interrupted, but at least I now have proof that Dani wants me too.

For the next few days, I can’t get the sound of Dani’s moans out of my head. She’s definitely an addiction. I’m on edge now that I haven’t seen her. I’ve started to text her numerous times but stopped myself. She was clearly freaked out by what happened between us, and I don’t know why. But I do know I need to give her a little space to work through it.

So, after sending her a message directly after she ran out of the house—while hiding from Liam—I’ve now left it in her hands. And I’m anxious as fuck, hoping that she’ll reply and I haven’t messed things up completely.

On Friday afternoon, I take Liam to meet Joel for their regular catch-up. And, like always, we start our time together with a snack before Joel and Liam have some alone time to talk.

When we’re packing up our little picnic, Joel gives me a knowing look. “I heard you found out Dani was Liam’s aunt,” he says, staring me down until I catch his meaning, my eyes widening in shock.

“Shit. You knew?”

He slowly nods, a serious look in his eyes. “Not from the beginning but for a few weeks now.”

“Mother F…” Liam’s eyes flash up from the puzzle he’s doing, and I smile. “Feather. Mother Feather. Why didn’t you tell me?”Actually, we probably knew about the same time.

“Confidentiality,” Joel says and I pause.

“For real?” I ask as Liam grabs the ball and starts kicking it around, growing bored of our conversation.

“Liam’s the one that told me, so I couldn’t share it. I mean, he didn’t know you knew her. But he mentioned his Aunt Dani and described her to a tee. I put two and two together. I’m clever like that.”

“Sh…eeet.”

“Yup.”

I shake my head and laugh. “Well, then yes, I found out. I’ve actually known for a few weeks too, but Dani only found out last week.”

Liam drops the ball and takes off toward the playground, so we slowly follow behind him as we talk.

“How’d that go?” Joel asks. “I bet it was a surprise to her.”

“She wasn’t happy I knew before her, but the thing is…” Gripping the back of my neck, I look to the sky and sigh. “I can’t get her out of my head, man.”
