I really had been planning to ask him anyway.

“No way?” Logan asks with a huge smile.

“Yes, way.” I smile back.

“And you thought of me? Were you picturing me in a flight suit?” he says, bouncing his eyebrows.

I wasn’t then, but I am now, and it’s yummy.

“You’re picturing it now, aren’t you?” he deadpans and then bursts out laughing when I nod.

“Well, then, I’m in. But what about tonight?”

“I better get going; it’s getting late.”

Logan’s face drops briefly before he recovers, only adding to my confusion. Why does it feel like he wants to change for me?

“I’m glad I found you tonight,” he says, brushing a hair behind my ear. “I didn’t know I was looking, and then you appeared.”

I smile but don’t respond. Mainly because I’m not sure he’s actually talking about tonight. His voice is packed with so much emotion that it can’t be. It has to be bigger than that. But is it?

“I’ve had fun,” I say with an answer that could work for both. “Thank you for hanging out.”

Thank you for hanging out? Ugh.

Logan laughs. “I’m looking forward tohangingout again tomorrow night,”—he pauses and, just before I agree with him, adds—“for our date.”

Our date? He never mentioned a date.My breath hitches as my pulse quickens. He wants a date?

Giving my waist a squeeze, Logan smiles knowingly when I don’t answer. “Did I shock you into silence?”

Yes.“No, sorry. I was just thinking of a good comeback,” I lie.

He nods, but he’s not buying it. “And how’d that go?”

I shrug. “It didn’t.”

Logan’s smile widens and genuine excitement crosses his face. “Good, I’ll see you there tomorrow. Unless…are you sure I can’t pick you up?”

Definitely not now.“No, that’s okay. I’ll meet you there.” I’m not sure why I still won’t allow him to pick me up. I originally did it so I’d have an escape. But now, I don’t think I’ll need one.

“Okay, Dani,” Logan chuckles as he takes a step back. “Until tomorrow.”

“Until tomorrow,” I repeat with a nod as I get into my car.

His responding smile hits me in the chest, and I have to admit, this feels different. More real. Does he want more? And do I? The wordyesscreams at me in my head and I internally wince.God, please don’t let this end badly.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Logan

Whenmyphoneremindergoes off at three the next afternoon, I groan. I’d forgotten I’d agreed to take Liam to the hairdresser, and something tells me it’s not going to be an enjoyable experience.

After picking him up from my grandparents’ place, we make the short journey to the salon, and it takes me less than a minute to realize I was right.

Why did I agree to this?I mean, yes, I was trying to make Mom’s life easier, but still… I have no experience in this at all. I’m Liam’s fun-loving big brother. He’s going to hate me after this.

“No! I don’t want to,” he yells, waving his hands around to stop the hairdresser from moving the scissors any closer.
