“Maybe you should’ve taken more time off work,” she suggested.

I shrugged. “I think it’s better for me to keep busy.”

“Okay, well, are you ready to do some shopping?”

I nodded and grabbed my purse from the hook behind the door. “Yep.”

“We just have to stop at the clubhouse and pick up Maggie.”

I set the alarm and locked the door before pulling it closed behind us. “I’m surprised Gunner’s letting her out of his sight,” I admitted. “I know the Widows haven’t been around, but they’re still a threat.”

I followed Josie to her car while she replied. “Yeah, well I heard someone has to go shopping with us, and I’m assuming that’s going to be Gunner.”

That made more sense. Maggie and Gunner were rarely apart now that they were officially a couple. Add that to the fact that danger always seemed to follow her, and he was very protective. “That sounds right.”

Josie laughed, and we both got into her car. She was backing out when she spoke again. “How’s Wyatt?”

“Better. He’s starting to gain weight.”

“That’s fantastic,” she replied with a smile. “Do you get to hold him now?”

“Yeah.” I smiled softly. “We set up a schedule for visits, and I’m able to hold him then.”

“Good.” She reached over and laid her hand on my forearm. “I can’t even imagine how hard this is for you. You’re handling all of this so well.”

“Thanks,” I replied, but I wasn’t sure I was doing as well as she thought I was.

She turned into the parking lot and parked. “Alright, let’s go in and see who’s going with us.”

“What if it’s Bear?” I teased.

She shoved open her door and rolled her eyes. “It better not be your brother.”

This time, I chuckled and pushed open my own door. I hadn’t been to the clubhouse since the night I went into labor. I just hadn’t felt like socializing, but Bear told me everyone wanted to see me so this would be good. I could spend a few minutes with everyone and then have a good excuse to leave.

“Hey, Becs.” Skinner smiled at me when we approached the door.

I frowned and glanced around. “What are you doing watching the door? That’s a prospect’s job.”

“Bear wanted extra security on the door with you and Josie coming,” he explained, which made sense.

I rolled my eyes. “You mean he wanted it on Josie.”

Skinner grinned and pushed open the door. I’d just cleared the threshold when I heard “Surprise” called out from a crowd. Stopping, I stared in shock at the room decorated with blue baby banners and balloons and filled with almost all the women I knew.

Tears immediately filled my eyes, except this time, I couldn’t stop them from falling, no matter how hard I tried. Josie immediately put her arm around me and lowered her voice. “What do you need?”

I wiped the tears from my cheeks. “A tissue and a big drink.”

Josie giggled, which made me smile. “You got it.”

I gestured toward the room. “Did you do this?”

“Maggie and I did.”

When a shadow fell over us, we both faced forward. Bear glanced at Josie before shifting his attention to me. “You good?”

I sniffed. “Yeah, I’m good.”
