Tank snorted. “Hated the fucking city, but gotta admit, I can see the draw of that lifestyle. Biggest fucking adrenaline rush stealing that car, avoiding the cops, riding in a car I would’ve never sat my ass in otherwise.” He glanced at me and smirked. “It was a good night.”

Chuckling, I shook my head. “Prison hangin’ over your head changes those feelings.”

“Any chance they’re looking for you?”

“Maybe,” I admitted. “But no one will talk. I made them a hell of a lot of money while I was there. Flew into Jersey. Rented a car that I drove into Philly.”

“How long of a drive?”

“Little over two hours to where I needed to be.”

“Can that be traced?” Bear asked.

“They can trace that rental back to Roger Smith but not me.”

Bull chuckled. “Guess you know how to play the game. Good to know you haven’t lost your touch.”

“No blowback on you or the club.” Bear nodded.

“There won’t be on the club. Shouldn’t be on me.”

“Good.” Bear nodded. “Movin’ on.”

“Got a feeling we’re not gonna like this.” Pop spoke for the first time since the meeting started.

Bear sighed loudly. “Jax called me.”

My eyebrows lifted. “Jax from Elite?”

“Yep.” Bear put his elbows on the table. “About a month ago, Becs walked her ass into their office with a problem.”

I could feel the tension increase in the room, and I sat forward. “What the hell is going on?”

“She asked them to look into Wyatt’s father, who, according to Jax, has been bothering her.”

“Thought he didn’t want anything to do with the baby,” Ritz pointed out.

Bear frowned. “Not sure he does, but he’s been threatening her.”

“Why the fuck didn’t she come to us?”

“I don’t know,” Bear admitted, and it was obvious he was pissed. “Just found out this shit today and brought it to you first.”

“Why did Jax wait this long to call you?”

“He said he made a deal with her not to tell me, but that he would if he had to.”

“He’s concerned,” Pop stated.

Bear jerked up his chin. “He’s involved in some way with Manny.”

“Dammit.” Bull grunted. “This fucker keeps comin’ back. We need to eliminate him.”

“Not our style,” Bear reminded him. “Not anymore.”

“What did they find out?” I interrupted before Bull and Bear faced off over how the club handled problems. They’ve had the same conversation several times over the years, and they still don’t agree. There wasn’t a chance that conversation would be different tonight.

“Kyle’s been digging. Can’t find shit on him. He’s clean. On paper.” Bear scanned the table. “Kyle’s the best. If there was anything dirty that he could track online, he’d have found it.”
