“I’ll take you any way I can get you.” He watched me closely. “And if you need me the way you did today, you just come find me.” I laughed and lowered my head, enjoying the sound of his chuckle against my ear. “Trust me, I’m always up for that.” Our laughter died down, and he continued talking. “Came here to tell you something else.”

“What is it?”

“I’m not Leo’s father.” My eyes widened in surprise because I assumed he was. “We got the results back.”

“Are you okay with that?”

“Yeah,” he replied. “But still feel bad for the kid. Gave it some thought and realized his mom gave him my name because I was probably the only person in her life she’d trust with him if something happened to her, so I offered him a place at the clubhouse. Told him we’d help get him some training, find a job, do all the shit his mom would want for him.”

He narrowed his eyes when I only smiled. “You don’t seem surprised.”

“I’m surprised he’s not yours because he came all this way to find you, but I’m not surprised you’re taking care of him anyway.” I laid my hand against his chest. “That’s who you are. That’s the man I can trust with my heart.”

He stared intently into my eyes. “You sayin’ you love me, princess?”

“I’m not ready to say that yet,” I admitted, knowing that I loved him, but not ready to take that leap until I was sure his feelings were real and not a result of everything we just went through. Fear is a fantastic motivator, but sometimes, it’s short-lived. I needed to see what happened when we’re no longer afraid of losing each other.

“I’m patient.” He grinned and pulled my body tight against his. “I can wait.”

And he would.

He gave me the space I needed when I asked for it, so I had no doubt he would give me the time I needed to be sure this wasn’t only now, that this was forever.

But we both already knew the answer.

Parking my bike,I swung my leg off and stood, staring ahead. I was going to need to keep my cool during this meeting, but it pissed me off that we were no closer to finding Manny than we were a couple of weeks ago.

I started across the parking lot, briefly noticing the sign hanging above the door, Hank’s, the place where we met when we were bringing together the group of people who weren’t supposed to get along, let alone work together. When I heard a bike roar in behind me, I turned and watched Ritz park before swinging off his bike.

He jogged across the lot and fell into step beside me. “Wasn’t sure you were gonna make it.”

He frowned. “Me either, but I was able to sneak away from the restaurant. I have less than an hour, though.”

I grabbed the door and yanked it open before walking through with Ritz right behind me. I wasn’t surprised when all eyes shifted to watch us.

“We the last?” Ritz asked from behind me.

“Waitin’ for one more,” Bear answered.

With my eyebrows drawn together, I looked around the room, my eyes falling on every man I’d expected to be here. I was just about to ask who was missing when the door was yanked open and in walked a man I never expected to see.

Hawk.

Bull stood straight and put his hands on his hips, but Bear slapped his palm against his chest as a silent signal. Bull wasn’t convinced Hawk had the best intentions, and I still wasn’t sure it was a good idea to bring him into our inner circle, but Bear was.

He was our president, so we respected his decision to include him, but we were cautious.

Bear crossed the room and held out his hand. “Hawk.”

Hawk shook his hand and looked around the room. “There a reason we’re meeting at this bar?”

“Neutral location.” Luke spoke up.

“Meaning, you can’t be seen with anyone from a motorcycle club,” Hawk surmised.
