Nick, who was standing next to Kyle, spoke up. “And a Widow can’t be seen with the cops. This is a favor for you too.”

Hawk eyed Nick. “Who the fuck are you?”

Bear sighed and moved to stand next to Hawk, gesturing toward Nick and Kyle. “Hawk, that’s Nick and Kyle, both employees of Elite Securities.”

“Ahh.” Hawk smirked. “I’ve heard a lot about you since I moved to town. The superstars of Elite. You’re the former FBI agent, and you.” He pointed at Kyle. “You’re famous for the shit you can dig up online.”

Kyle returned his smirk. “Not gonna deny that.”

Bear pointed at Luke. “You met Luke already.” Hawk jerked up his chin in Luke’s direction before shifting his attention to Cam. “That’s Cam, his brother and fellow detective with the police department.”

“How the fuck do you know Luke?” Bull asked.

“Met a while back to talk about Snap and the shit he was pulling as the president of the local Widows chapter, especially after we found out he was dealin’.”

Luke nodded. “That’s exactly why I had Bear bring you in today. You helped us get Snap, and you may be able to help us find someone else the DEA is currently hunting.”

“Who?”

Cam glanced at Luke before he spoke. “What is shared in this room stays between us. If it doesn’t, nothing will be shared again.”

Hawk narrowed his eyes. “Feel like you’re just talking to me.”

“I am,” Cam stated bluntly. “We’ve worked with every other man in this room before, and in doing so, we managed to keep our community safe. That’s our only goal here. If that’s not yours, then you need to leave now.”

“I’m cleaning house at the Widows right now for the same reason.” Hawk defended himself.

Bull eyed him suspiciously. “Why do you care so much about this town?”

Hawk shrugged. “Like it here, and from what I can tell, it’s filled with good people. I’m also trying to give the Widows a chance to step up and prove they’re a legit club with the right intentions.”

Bull snorted. “Good luck with that.”

Hawk stared at him intently. “There are good men in the club. Men who want the same shit you want. In order to give them that, I have to clean out the trash, which I’m doing. It’s not gonna happen overnight, which is good because those are the members who are hearing the rumors, and that gives me something to bring to you.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “You either want my help or you don’t.”

“We want it.” Bear stared at Bull until he took a step back, and then he gestured toward Luke. “What do we know?”

Instead of Luke speaking, it was Cam. “DEA has authority over this case. It’s a federal case now, which means the local police department isn’t privy to a lot of what’s going on.”

“But you are?”

“Not exactly,” Cam admitted. “Nick and I worked with a DEA agent when we were undercover investigating a case. We were both in the FBI then. Obviously, we aren’t anymore. At that time, though, the DEA and FBI shared notes so we got to know the agent well. He’s still undercover, and he’s hearing a lot. He’s doing us a favor by sharing any of it, so we need to make sure we protect his identity and any information he gives us.”

“What’s he sharing?” I asked.

“A name.” Cam offered the one thing I never expected we’d know today.

I stood up straight, impressed they found something no one else could find. “He got a name? How?”

Nick put his hands on his hips. “Took some work, but the undercover agent was able to find out who Manny is. His real name is Emmanuelle Rodriguez, but he hasn’t used that name since he served in the Navy. Now he only goes by Manny.”

Bear studied Nick. “Let me guess, he was stationed in North Carolina.”

“He was, initially. At some point, he moved to Virginia, but that was at the end of his military career. We’re assuming that’s when shit started to go downhill, considering he was discharged not long after that move. Can’t find the reason, but that’s what his records indicate.” Nick nodded. “My guess, he learned how shit works at the ports during his time in North Carolina and probably made some friends who were happy to look the other way, for the right amount money, when shipments came in.”

“So he is cartel?” Hawk asked.

“All signs point to that,” Nick agreed, “but we can’t find the link. That’s where Kyle comes in.”
