I laughed. “That’s it?”

He shrugged. “What else do we need?”

“Where am I going to sit if we only have one recliner.”

He slid his arm around my waist. “On my lap.”

“What if you’re mad at me for something and don’t want me on your lap?”

He chuckled. “If I’m mad at you and you climb on my lap, I’m not gonna be mad anymore.”

I laid my hand on his chest and laughed. “I’ll remember that.”

“When can we move in?”

“Today.” I pointed at the keys on the kitchen counter. “I have the keys.”

“Let’s go get our shit.”

“I still have all of my furniture at my townhouse.”

“You list the townhouse yet?”

“I told the real estate agent she could tomorrow. I wanted to wait until I signed the papers to ensure everything went okay.”

He nodded and reached into his pocket to pull out his phone. “I’ll call the boys, see if anyone’s available, get that shit here today if we can.”

I waited while he made a few calls, looking around the house and coming up with ideas for the living room and kitchen. But as much as he didn’t want to give me his input, I wanted it. This was our place, and I wanted it to convey that when people came in.

“Got about five trucks and eight of the guys coming. We should have it done in no time.”

“Just like that?”

He tilted his head. “What do you mean?”

“They’ll all come, just like that, no questions asked?”

“That’s family, princess.” He came to stand in front of me and laid his hand on my cheek. “Get used to it. But I have to warn you, there’s a downside to this family.”

“What downside?”

He grinned. “They’ll constantly be in our business.”

I considered that. “I think that’s a fair trade-off.”

“Me too.” He pressed his lips against mine but then pulled back. “Thank you.”

I tilted my head. “For what?”

“For giving me everything I never knew I wanted.” He wrapped his arms around me and grinned. “Best day of my life was the day you decided to take control of yours, and I found you walking toward New Hope.”

I exhaled happily and laid my head against his chest. “Mine too.”

In his arms, I was safe and happy and exactly where I always belonged.

I was home.
