“I thought you liked all the new prospects.”

“I do.” I put the SUV in park. “And it’s good for the club. Don’t like all the drama a bigger club has, but I’ll get used to it. Least I can leave when I’m done now.”

She smiled. “To go to our home.”

I grinned at the huge smile on her face. “Yeah, princess, to go home.” My grin dropped when I watched Hawk pull his bike into the parking lot. “What the fuck is he doing here?”

She glanced over her shoulder but then faced me and frowned. “Promise me you won’t say the f-word here. There’ll be kids around.”

I shook my head and leaned over, watching her grin grow the closer I got. “I’m gonna get you to say fuck one of these days.”

“Never.”

“Never say never, princess.” I laid my lips against hers and kissed her softly until a horn blared and forced me to pull back.

Race laughed and waved while he parked his truck. Groaning, I kissed her one last time before shoving open my door. “Let’s go.”

Race carried Wyatt while he and Becs made their way to our vehicle. They stopped to wait for us by the front of my truck, and I gestured toward Hawk, who straddled his bike on the other side of the parking lot and was texting on his phone. “What’s he doing here?”

“No idea,” Race replied, and we both faced the clubhouse door when we heard it slam. I saw Skinner look toward Hawk before heading in our direction.

“You leavin’?” I called out when he got close enough to hear me.

He stopped in front of us and put his hands on his hips. “Goin’ for a ride with Hawk, probably grab a beer after.”

“You comin’ back?” Race asked.

“Told Bear I’ll be back in a couple of hours.” He glanced at Hawk before he continued talking. “He’s got no one. Local Widows aren’t being real receptive and his family’s in California, so I’m all he’s got around here. He was my brother way before I came here, and he still is. Do anything for him. Can’t go through the shit we did and then abandon each other. That’s not who I am, and that’s not who he is, no matter what name we wear on our cuts.”

“It’s not gonna be easy.” Race studied Skinner while he spoke. “You bein’ a Sinner and him bein’ a Widow.”

“Nothing worth doin’ has ever been easy in my life,” Skinner replied.

I was just about to remind him that the club came first in our lives when Jane reached down and wrapped her hand around mine. She didn’t have to say a word. The club didn’t want me to bring her around because they thought it would only cause trouble, but I did it anyway. I didn’t care if anyone else understood. And it was obvious Skinner wasn’t going to let the clubs ruin his friendship with Hawk.

“Go.” I gestured toward Hawk with my head. “Have fun, brother. It’s a nice night for a ride.”

Skinner grinned at Jane before slapping his hand against my shoulder. “See you in a few hours.”

We watched him walk toward Hawk, but only Race spoke. “You trust him?”

“Hawk?” I clarified, but I didn’t need to. We all trusted Skinner, but Hawk was a different story. “Hate to say it, brother, but yeah, I do.”

“Me too.” Race shifted Wyatt when he lifted his head from his shoulder and rubbed his eyes. Something in my gut tightened watching Race be a dad. Never thought I wanted that in my life, but I never thought I wanted what I had with Jane. Guess shit was changing.

We headed around the back of the clubhouse, and I laughed when Becs unlocked the gate. It was the circus I expected. Kids and people were everywhere. Hell, some even brought their dogs. It felt more like the Fourth of July than Thanksgiving because of the weather and the fact that tables were set up outside with food already lining them. People held plates in their hands, and I quickly realized that Ritz had set up a buffet so people could eat when they came and continue eating throughout the night.

“I’m going to give this to Ritz.” Jane squeezed my hand and then hurried toward Ritz, who stood by the bar. I watched him grin at her and then take her dish, putting it down with the others and grabbing a spatula for it. I didn’t even know what it was, but she was happy as hell to bring it. I grabbed a bottle of beer from the bar and watched them walk toward me.

He looped his arm around her shoulders. “Finally datin’ someone with manners, brother?”

“See.” Jane smirked. “I told you he’d appreciate it.”

Grinning, I looked back and forth between them. “Never said he wouldn’t appreciate it. I said it wasn’t necessary.”

“Ooh, I see Maddie and the girls.” She pulled out from under Ritz’s arm. “I’m going to say hello.”

I grabbed her around the waist just before she moved along and kissed her, but we didn’t speak. She tapped my chest and smiled before moving quickly across the lawn.
