“Bear!” Josie slapped his arm. “Why would you say that?”

He shrugged. “I was kidding.”

“It wasn’t funny.” She frowned and then started to walk away but not before she glanced back at him. “You’re really pissing me off today.”

“This is gonna be a fun night,” Bear said, but his eyes never left Josie while she crossed the lawn. When she was finally out of his sight, he looked at Jane. “Your cake is really good. I already ate three pieces.”

Jane’s eyebrows rose. “So you were trying to make her mad?”

“You ever seen Josie mad?” When Jane shook her head, his grin grew, and he started to follow her, but not before adding, “Nothin’ like it.”

“You made this?” Leo held up his plate and pointed at the cake just as she nodded. “You can just make this. I’d eat it all day long.”

She laughed. “You can’t just eat cake.” She gestured toward me. “At least you can’t if you eat like Tank.”

Laughing, I reached down and grabbed Jane’s hand. “Speaking of food, let’s get something. I’m starving.”

She rolled her eyes and smiled at Leo. “See, I told you.”

I smirked at Jane but then jerked up my chin in Leo’s direction. “I’ll text you tomorrow, kid, and we’ll figure out the weekend.” I reached out and punched him lightly on the shoulder. “Be smart tonight. Don’t get anyone pregnant.”

“Tank!” Jane’s eyes widened comically, and I heard Leo laughing while I dragged her toward the tables holding the food.

“That was sweet.” She leaned her head against my shoulder while we walked. “What you just did for him.”

I squeezed her hand. “I did that for both of us. Want him in my life, and he needs family in his.”

She walked along with me and we talked to a few more people before we finally filled our plates and ate. I don’t know how food that was sitting out this long still tasted so good, but that was Ritz. He was good at what he did and just kept getting better.

As the night wore on, the crowd thinned to the people we were used to seeing at these bonfires. Leaning against the bar, I pulled Jane against me, and she pressed her back to my chest. I wrapped my arms around her, and my gaze settled on Race who was once again holding Wyatt while he slept.

I squeezed my arms tighter around her and lowered my voice. “How do you feel about kids?”

“I love kids,” she answered immediately.

I chuckled against her ear. “I know that. What I’m asking is how you feel about havin’ your own.”

“I would love to have my own.” She sighed happily. “Is that something you want?”

“Never thought I did until Leo came into my life. I was disappointed when he wasn’t mine. Never thought I’d feel that way, but I do.” I gestured toward Race. “See Race with Wyatt and feel like I’m ready for that.”

“Isn’t that moving kind of fast?” she asked.

“Didn’t say I wanted them today. Still want some time for ourselves, but I just wanted to know where you’re at with havin’ kids.”

She turned and pressed her chest against mine before linking her hands around my neck. “I would love to have kids with you someday, but on one condition.”

My eyebrows drew together. “What’s that?”

“You stop using the f-word in every sentence. I do not want that to be our child’s first word.”

I hugged her tightly against me and laughed. “Can’t make any promises, princess, but I’ll do my best.”

“Guess that’s better than nothing.”

She smiled when I dropped my lips to hers, only pulling back when arousal shot through my body. “Wanna go up to my room? For old time’s sake?”

She laughed. “Why do you still have a room here?”
