“Maybe not,” she agreed quietly.

We drove in mostly silence, chatting here and there until we were about ten minutes from the club. I pulled over along the side of the deserted country road leading to the clubhouse. “I’m going to get in the back and change.”

“Okay.”

Climbing in the back seat, I quickly pulled on my jeans and pale-green shirt. The V-neck gave a peek of cleavage, and it fit a little snugger to my body than most of my clothes. It wasn’t something I would wear around anyone I knew. As a matter of fact, when I bought it, I planned to only wear it to sleep in, but it made me feel sexy, so I decided tonight was the night to step out of my comfort zone and wear it publicly.

I slid on my high-heeled booties that were nearly identical to Rachel’s and folded my dress before shoving it and my shoes back into my tote bag.

I quickly moved back to the front seat and smiled when Rachel whistled. “Wow, I love that shirt on you.”

“Thanks.” I shifted to face her. “You don’t think it’s too…?”

“What? Sexy? Yeah, it definitely is, but I think it’s perfect for where we’re going.”

Facing forward, I put the SUV into drive and smiled. “Me too.”

In less than ten minutes, we pulled into the parking lot and parked. “Wow, there are a lot of motorcycles here.”

“Yeah, well, that makes sense,” Rachel replied.

Nodding, I stared at the door. “You ready?”

“You know what?” she said, and I looked her way. “I’m actually kind of excited.”

Laughing, I turned off the engine and threw my keys in my purse. “Then let’s go.”

We made it to the door, and a kid who couldn’t be more than twenty years old glanced at us. “Name?”

With a nervous glance at Rachel, I stepped forward. “My name is Jane, and this is Rachel.”

He smirked slowly and grabbed the door handle. “They’re out back.”

“Umm…okay.”

We both walked into the bar and looked around. It was empty. I didn’t know how to get out back, so I gestured toward the hallway. “Maybe that way?”

“Guess we’ll find out,” Rachel said.

I walked toward the hallway, and once we rounded the corner, I saw a door at the other end. We were almost there when I heard the noise from the other side.

“I have a feeling we found it,” Rachel said.

I was about to push it open when someone yanked on it from the outside, and I came face-to-face with Becs. “You made it!”

She grabbed our hands and pulled us outside. We looked at each other and laughed while she dragged us toward the bar. “Okay, what are you drinking?”

“Umm…I like wine,” I replied.

“Me too,” Rachel agreed.

“No wine, but I did make Sangria.”

“I’ll take that,” I said, and Rachel nodded.

She asked the bartender to get us Sangrias, and I looked behind us. It was hard to see with the only light outside from the few bonfires burning, but disappointment overwhelmed me when I didn’t see Tank. There would be no way to miss him, considering his size.

Becs handed me my drink and then Rachel hers. When Rachel asked a question, they both turned to face the yard and began talking. I took a sip and immediately smiled, happy it tasted more like wine than anything, while I stared at the yard in front of me. I heard Rachel laugh and, for a moment, wondered how I could feel lonely here too. Maybe it was me. I’d just gotten here, and already Rachel was chatting away while I was left drinking alone against the bar.
