Maddie lifted her drink to her lips. “Charlie knows even more.”

Both of us turned to look at Charlie, and she smiled when Rachel asked the obvious question. “How?”

“She used to party with them,” Grace, who sat beside her, announced.

“I partied with Bull,” she corrected, but then she smiled. “Oh wait, there were a few others.”

“You dated Bull?” I asked, remembering the man who had seemed terrifying at the club that night. He didn’t speak to me, and I got the impression he wasn’t happy Tank had invited me.

Charlie took a drink. “No, we never dated. We’re just friends.”

“Friends?” I said slowly. “But he seems…”

“Scary?” Charlie held up her drink. “Oh yeah, he does seem that way, but he’s actually a big teddy bear once you get to know him.”

Becs lifted her glass and smirked at Charlie. “Most men are after you ride topless on their motorcycles with them.”

“I wasn’t topless.” Charlie scoffed but then grinned. “I had on a bra.”

“This is all a little confusing,” I admitted.

Grace laughed. “It gets worse.”

Harper jumped down from her stool and pointed at the bar. “While you do this stroll through the family tree, I’m going to get us another pitcher of margaritas and flirt with the bartender.” She smiled at us. “Margaritas good with you?”

“Yeah.” I nodded and so did Rachel.

“Don’t forget to come back,” Bree hollered while she walked away before facing us and shrugging. “Harper can be a little…”

“Wild.” Charlie laughed.

“Crazy,” Grace said at the same time.

Bree laughed. “She just likes men way too much and gets distracted very easily.”

“Okay, back to how everyone knows everyone.” Maddie started. “Keep in mind, this is a very small town, but it gets even smaller when you realize the connections.” She pointed at Grace and Charlie. “Grace and Charlie are best friends and have been since middle school.”

Grace nodded. “That’s true.”

“Charlie is married to one of Grace’s brothers. His name is Ben.” Becs picked up where Maddie stopped. “Ben is Race and Dozer’s boss at Dimarco Construction.”

“Grace is Harper’s and my cousin. I also have a twin sister and a brother.”

“Wow, okay,” Rachel said, but then looked at Maddie. “Are you a cousin?”

“Nope.” She pointed at Sydney. “But Sydney is married to another of Grace’s brothers.”

Sydney raised her hand. “Guilty. He’s a cop in town.”

“With my other brother, Luke.” Grace finished for her.

Rachel shifted her attention to Grace and asked the question I already knew the answer to, thanks to Tank. “How many brothers do you have?”

She laughed. “Seven and they’re all older than me. I’m the youngest and only girl.”

Charlie rolled her eyes. “They’re all ridiculously close too and in each other’s business. Ben and I can’t do anything without the whole family knowing.”

“That’s not true.” Grace leaned her elbows on the table. “You dated in secret until Ben outed you.”
