A cold splash of water hits when I her the loud buzz from the front door. A few seconds later and the buzz is continuous. I can hear Maddie panting in my ear, but I know that whoever that is will not be deterred. Those two women are not going to leave.

The buzzing has turned to pounding and I carefully move away from Maddie. I speak with a low shallow breath, trying to get myself in control. “Baby, someone is here and they’re not going to leave,” I relay the news, my cock is protesting with throbbing need.

She looks completely bemused. “Okay,” she says quietly. I pull myself away with a groan. I look closer and notice uncertainty and quickly move to reassure her. “They’re friends, baby. Annoying, intrusive friends but true friends,” I tease.

“Get dressed, Baby. Come down when you’re ready. I have to go answer that door before they break and enter,” I joke but also know they would do it.

I tag my jeans and throw them on, then grab Maddie once more and kiss her soundly on the mouth. “Hurry, Baby. I’m not sure how long I can hold them off,”

She smiles back, and it lights up my soul; tilting her head slightly and biting her lower lip before she nods shyly.

I head to open the door for the two women I admire most in the Satan’s Pride crew. They are standing with hands on hips waiting impatiently for me to let them in. I barely get the door open when I’m shoved to the side by a very pregnant Ava. Actually, I let her push me out of the way. Our little Ava thinks she is fierce and none of the Satan’s Pride have the heart to tell her that although her heart is fierce, she is still a tiny thing, even when pregnant.

Vi, on the other hand, has always been generous and accommodating. She has been dating our second in command for a couple of years. As a matter of fact, Vi was the first woman that was taken seriously in our crew. Orion and she started their relationship within the first few months of us settling in this town. Orion has never labelled their relationship to “old lady” status and may never have declared Vi formally as such, but no one in the crew would treat her with anything less than full respect. Lately, Vi has been quieter than her usual boisterous self. Her smile lacks luster. I have a weird feeling about it. This is Orion’s business and unless asked, I keep out of it. Today is my lucky day because Vi’s smile is lit up like a beacon, mainly due to Ava’s nuttiness. The girls are looking for my girl and make no pretense about it.

“Hi, War, is Maddie here?” Ava asks while making her way into my kitchen.

“Not in there, doll,” I counter, laughing at the inspection of my home.

“You didn’t scare her off, already did you? Cause if you did, I’m going to unleash the Kraken on you. I like Maddie and Vi and I are looking forward to forming a kick ass “lady pride” group.” Ava gives me a withering stare with her hand on a hip and a massive protruding belly.

I can’t help it, I laugh so hard I think I’m going to piss myself. I laugh to the point where Vi starts giggling because I can’t stop. Unfortunately, I forget to consider the highly emotional state Ava has been in lately and a flood of tears start. Vi runs over to console Ava and I reign myself in.

“What the hell, Ava?” a gruff deep voice bellows from across the room. This is a fine time for Guard to show up with a prospect in tow. Cris has been on watch for the last few days and Guard is giving him some higher duties to test his reliance and loyalty.

“War made me cry!” she says as her tears are mopped up by a very attentive Vi.

Guard diverts his attention my way and I shrug. “No way. I am not to blame. Anyone—and I mean anyone—would have laughed their asses off over this scene. I’m sure Maddie would love some girl time with you two so grab a seat.”

Maddie comes into the sitting area to see Guard in my armchair with Ava on his lap. Vi is standing next to the fireplace, leaning and watching Guard talk softly to his wife. Vi’s eyes are soft as she observes how easily Guard turns Ava’s tears into a magnanimous smile.

As soon as I see my girl, I cross the room and tag her hand. “Hey, Kitten, look who came by to visit us today.” I stand behind her, my arms curled around her middle.

“Hey,” she says, smiling at the scene. “What’s going on guys? I heard you laughing,” she says as she turns her head up to me. “What’s so funny?”

“I’ll explain later, Baby,” I whisper in her hair.

Maddie turns to Vi. “Hi, I’m Maddie.”

“Hey, Maddie, I’m Vi. I’m Orion’s gal. I saw you perform the other night. You are amazing. I love your music. You are so incredibly talented.” She walks over to us and tugs Maddie out of my arms and hugs her tight. “It's great to have you here,” she says firmly.

Ava runs to congregate with the other girls. “Me too!” she cries out and settles herself into a group hug with my woman and Vi. Maddie’s smile is beaming, and I love Vi and Ava even more than I did fifteen minutes ago, for allowing Maddie into their fold.

“So, no guys, please,” Ava remarks. “We want to have girl time.”

“Ava, this is my house,” I remind her teasingly.

She looks over to Guard, “Don’t you have any place you can send him?” she asks cheekily, as she points directly at me.

“Ava!” Guard says sternly “This is War’s home, but if I know my brother, he will gladly walk away so you ladies can start talking about whatever it is you talk about. No matter what, Cris stays with you until we get back. He’ll be outside the door.” I can tell that he says this for Maddie’s benefit. He is aware of her fearful nature and wants to reassure that she is always with the Pride. He turns to me, “Come on, man. I have some shit to discuss with you. Let’s take a ride.”

“Yeah, right behind you,” I say. I make my way to my girl and kiss her hard on the mouth, then rumble in her ear, “Be good. And remember where we were for later.” I wink at her and follow Guard out the door.

Twenty minutes later and we are sitting at the club meeting table with Orion, Risk, and Demon. When the guys follow Guard and I into the room, I knew this was not going to be a simple disclosure of information regarding to Maddie’s kidnapping. Orion is a master at uncovering information and I told him to dig and dig deep.

“Well, how is the old man?” Orion smirks and lifts an eyebrow.

“Not funny, man. You tell me—you’ve been hooked up longer than I have,” I reply.
