He had said to her a couple of weeks ago that he struggled to concentrate when she was in the audience, watching the way her hips swayed. Staring up at him all she could think was, same.

One song came to an end, and he winked down at her, his eyes afire with a heat and longing that had her insides quivering before he launched into the next one. He belonged to her, and no one could deny it.

His song was about reflection, and it got her thinking. About the journey that both of them had been on, both trying to grow and become the people they were meant to be. Both worried about what other people thought of them instead of owning it.

Luckily, together they had found the courage to accept themselves and chase their dreams. Ben continued to perform as Elvis, booking various performances throughout the state which sometimes took him away for too long, but she didn’t begrudge it, it gave her time to write and time to miss him and to look forward to his return. He was fast on his way to becoming a huge sensation and was exploring how to make this his sole career. Kayleigh figured he was well on his way, he was in high demand after finding a new audience on TikTok and she couldn’t be more thrilled for him.

Kayleigh knew it hurt that his father couldn’t put his feelings aside and support him. But Matt had reached out and they were slowly working through the repair of their relationship. He had come to visit Ben a couple of weeks ago, the first time since he’d turned up at the bar with his father. Ben said the meeting had been tense but it sounded like it was the beginning of a new relationship, and Matt would be back again next week so see Ben perform.

Kayleigh had started her narrative design and screenwriting course last month at the community college in Palm Valley, not far from Citrus Pines. She was applying for junior roles at a few larger gaming corporations across the state. Most of them offered working from home and she would only occasionally need to travel into an office, but they could make it work. Both her and Ben were following their dreams and supporting each other.

Ben finished his set to thunderous applause and screams from the packed bar. Taylor loved being able to secure performances from him because he brought in crowds from all over. The Ladies’ Nights continued to be a success, as had the LGBTQIA nights they had begun hosting. Kayleigh couldn’t believe the reception they’d had and was so pleased to see more people finding the love they deserved, just like she had.

His arms banded around her, pulling her tight against him. “You drive me wild,” he murmured into her ear, his breath tickling the shell, and goosebumps covered her skin.

“Same,” she replied before spinning around in his arms and kissing him. When they broke apart, he asked, “How wasIntrigue?”

“So good! I can hold myself upside down now.”

He grinned down at her, shaking his head. “Incredible! You amaze me.”

She pressed a kiss to his lips. “Then hold onto your hat buddy, I’ve got a surprise for you.”

“Oh yeah? I’ve got something for you too.” He waggled his eyebrows, and she rolled her eyes, her smile never leaving her face.

She produced the tickets from her purse and handed them to him.

His eyes flew to hers when he realized what she was showing him. “We’re going to Memphis?”

“Uh huh.”

“Graceland?”

“Obviously.”

“Beale Street?”

“Yes,” she laughed. “We can do it all, everything you want to look at and get your fill of all things Elvis.”

“God, I love you.” He kissed her again, slow and deep. It wasn’t the first time he’d said it, it was one of many, but she kept the memory of each one locked away in a little piece of her heart, treasuring every single one.

“I love you, too.”

“Now, let me show you something outside,” he said with meaning, pulling her down the hallway and out the back of the bar, the cool air tickling her bare legs. He had her up against the side of the building and his hand under her skirt in two seconds flat. When his fingers slipped inside her, she moaned.

“Feels like the first time,” he breathed against her lips.

“No fair, Beau, they found our make out spot!” Came a whine from next to them.

Kayleigh squeaked with surprise and Ben moved in front of her, shielding her from view. She peeked over his shoulder and saw Taylor and her boyfriend, Beau, illuminated by the moonlight.

“It’s okay sweetheart, we’ll find a new one,” Beau said, dragging Taylor away.

“Just remember, she loved me first!” Taylor shouted over her shoulder at Ben. Kayleigh’s shoulders shook from laughter.

“I don’t know what you’re finding so funny about this whole thing. You’re not the one with a boner in a white satin suit theydefinitelyjust got an eyeful of,” Ben grumbled.

She burst out laughing again before he pinned her to the wall of the bar with his pelvis, lifting her leg to wrap around his hip. “I remember last time you weren’t so happy at being discovered out herein flagrante.”

She rolled her hips against him eager for more pressure. “What can I say, I’m a changed woman.”

“You certainly are, you’re not really a good girl at all, are you Kayleigh?” His deep timbre shredded her nerves.

She shook her head before slowly sinking to her knees. He grunted as she ran her hand over the aching length of him and his hand tunneled into her hair.

“There’s my bad girl...”

The End.
