I didn't mind them being afraid of me. Especially Lawson.

"Who was involved in the plots against Amelia?"

Lawson said, "Nathan sent Jardin to negotiate with the Watson pack. Nathan only resurfaced in the last few days."

"Jardin," I said. "Do you have a photo?"

Lawson opened his cell phone and scrolled through photos.

"There are a lot of shifters who hated Nathan," Aiden said.

"And a lot of them who curried his favor," Lawson reminded him.

"You would've looked like you curried his favor," Aiden said.

Lawson's jaw tightened. "I hated doing it. But once I saw Nathan was back... I knew he'd do anything to posess Amelia. I pretended that I hated her too so they would tell me what was going on."

Lawson helped us to figure out everyone who had been involved in any of the plots against Amelia.

"Now is your opportunity to make it clear to them what side you are on," I told Lawson.

He had better prove tomeas well that he was on our side. Part of me thought it would be far easier if Lawson died tonight, but Amelia valued his life. Though that fact grated at me--given that I was not exactly escaping her shit list anytime soon and she seemed to like everyone better than me--but I would make sure this boy made it home too.

"Let's roll," I said.

As we made our way towards the Longroad pack's territory, my blood boiled with rage. The very thought of anyone harming Amelia sent adrenaline rolling through my muscles. Every shifter who had been involved in the plots against my mate would soon face my wrath.

We arrived at the Longroad pack's territory and crept towards their town, silent as shadows. As we approached the pack, I could feel my wolf clawing at the surface, eager to be set loose.

We attacked with a ferocity that left the Longroad pack stunned. The shifters were caught off guard, and we moved swiftly to take them down. I didn't hold back, ripping through flesh and bone with my bare hands. The air was thick with the scent of blood and the sound of snarls and growls and roars. I snapped necks and tore out organs with no thought given to mercy.

Shaw, Cole, and I were united in our desire for blood, for vengeance for Amelia. Though the three of us were dangerous alone, together we made a force to be reckoned with. Lawson and Aiden fought alongside us, the five of us cutting a bloody swathe through their territory.

Nathan was nowhere to be found. The rat had slipped away again, or perhaps he had stayed in the Watson pack, hiding and leaving his people to suffer and die without him.

Carnage spread around me. Everywhere I turned, there was another Longroad fighter, and I was eager to tear them to pieces.

"Stop," Shaw said, grabbing my arm, as I moved toward the alpha’s house.

I paused, taking in the bloodsoaked ground around us. I considered setting fire to Nathan's gaudy house, but I would give Amelia the chance to take anything from it that she wished first.

Perhaps she would like to strike that match.

"All their fighters are dead," Shaw said. "There's no one left to kill."

"Summon the rest of them together," I told Lawson.

He nodded. He and Aiden had fought bravely. They would make good additions to our pack.

Perhaps one day, I'd apologize for the fact they'd barely survived our first meeting.

Perhaps.

My soldiers moved from house to house, gathering every survivor and securing the buildings. Within half an hour, I was ringed with the three hundred survivors of the terrified Longroad pack.

"The killing is over," I said, looking around at the rest of them, who were primarily women and children and some aged men. I hoped I had cut the cancer out of this pack, even if my scalpel work had been clumsy and brutal. "You are all under my protection now."

I went on explaining to them how life would be from now on. My voice carried through the night.
