She just shook her head and attempted another punch. We continued to spar. Amelia was becoming more aggressive each day, her moves sharp and precise. It was as if she was trying to prove something to me.

Usually, I would have praised her. Today, I didn’t want to encourage her to think she could handle everything on her own.

Instead, I went after her full force to take her down to the ground. I spun with her as I tackled her off her feet, so she landed on top of me, my body absorbing the blow.

Her lips parted in alarm. I was so much stronger than her, with her delicate wrists that I seized now, rolling with her to pin her down.

But she was fighting as soon as we stopped moving, trying to pin me herself. The two of us struggled. I used more of my weight and experience than I normally would, reminding her of just how much smaller she was.

Her face was pink-cheeked and increasingly frustrated as she tried to buck me off her. I ground my hips down into hers, feeling my cock press against her lean thighs, dominating her mercilessly as I grabbed her wrists and pinned them to either side of her head. She kept trying to throw me, digging her heels into the ground for purchase, until she was red-faced and sweating. She hung in there a long time, as if she were following my orders to never stop fighting.

“You’re hurting me,” she gritted finally, admitting that my weight on her wrists hurt.

“So you yield?”

She was still for a second, then abruptly tried to throw me. I wasn't stupid though, and I had expected that attempt. My grip on her hadn’t loosened.

“Yes,” she said tightly. “I yield.”

I rolled off her, allowing her to sit up. I sat next to her, and she kept her gaze away from mine. She seemed embarrassed by the loss.

I reached for her shoulder, and she turned away, her ponytail flicking over her back.

I allowed myself to soften a little and take her wrists again, this time tending to the swollen red marks where my fingers had held her helpless. If she didn’t, the skin would bruise.

My hands moved slowly, gently, feathering over the tender skin in an effort to comfort her. Her ragged breathing began to slow, and her eyes drifted closed. I felt the tension easing out of her body.

Taking a deep breath, I tenderly massaged red marks on her wrists where my grip had been too tight. Her pulse quickened, a beat in her throat as if she were aroused or scared. Some strong emotion.

“You fought well,” I said softly, trying to reassure her. “Don’t be ashamed.”

She shook her head. “I didn’t. I never do. This whole pack had to fight for me. Stone shouldn’t risk them for me.”

“What else are we going to do?” I asked. “We love you.”

My anger had faded. It wasn’t really anger anyway.

It was fear.

I didn’t want to lose her.

This time when I reached out for her shoulder, she didn’t pull away. Instead, she shifted closer and found my hand with hers so that our fingers intertwined without either of us saying a word.

Then I caught sight of Ben and Will coming over the hill. I’d been about to lean over and kiss her, but instead I rose to my feet and offered her a hand up.

“Are you still mad at me?” she asked, her brows arching over vivid blue eyes.

“Mad?” I realized there was no point in pretending once I’d begun. “Not anymore. Not if you promise to be more careful.”

“Good.” She directed a teasing smile my way. “I don’t mind being reminded of how easy it is for you to dominate me, Cole. But next time, use your powers for good, mm?”

Then she turned and headed across the lawn for the porch. I had the feeling she knew exactly when she did to me as I watched her ass in those tight little shorts, her long legs. She was growing stronger all the time, her legs and arms looking more toned, her hips slightly wider as she gained a little much-needed weight.

Ben and Will asked if we could go for a run. I agreed, the three of us jogging around the pack trails. We made small talk. I wasn’t surprised when we turned a corner and Joshua was waiting for us, sitting on one of the picnic tables in the empty park.

“Did you pack us all a picnic?” I asked, glancing around. “Romantic spot.”

Joshua ignored me. “What’s your game, Cole?”
