His cock slid against my folds until finally entered me, filling me with an aching pleasure. He moved inside of me slowly and gently until the intensity increased, and we moved together in a frantic pace that felt like it could go on forever. My body was trembling with pleasure and my mind spinning from the sheer bliss that I felt. Brennan cried out my name as he came, our bodies joining us together even in this dream world.

The wall between this dream world and the spirit world felt so thin right now that I barely dared to breathe. I didn't want to lose him, even if was just a few stolen moments with a ghost.

I thought of the moment I'd been sure I was going to die in that car, as we spun out of control. "When I thought I was going to die, all I thought of was you. I wasn't sad to die when I thought I was going to find you."

"You can't die, Amelia." He rested his chin on top of my head, his arms tight around me. "Life is worth living."

"I know. Because of your son."

He stilled. Then he exhaled into my hair. "You aren’t home here. Not yet. You have to find your way home."

"Home?"

"To me." The word was a whisper in my ear, rough and ragged.

I looked up into his face, and there was no face there at all. A mask covered his face, and when I reached for it, he caught my wrists in his hands.

"Keep sleeping, Amelia. Until you're ready to wake to me."

He dipped his head, his hands exploring my curves, and even if I was lost in broken dreams, or in between this world and the next, even if it was madness, I wanted all I could have of him before I woke.

The dream faded, and so did he, and I slept, deep and dreamless.

"Amelia." The voice broke through my dream.

I opened my eyes to see Stone.

He leaned over me looking worried.

I was naked, and I was barefoot.

Stone crouched in front of me as I lay curled in the center of the half-demolished cottage.

“You came a long way,” Stone said gently. “You were sleepwalking.”

His nostrils flared, and I knew we could both smell the slick that slid down my thighs. It was mixed with the scent of sex, and he must have realized I’d had sex with Shaw earlier. But he managed to control himself, though his jaw flexed as if he were angry, all his muscles tense as if he were holding himself back.

He pulled his shirt off his head and held it out to me. When I sat up, an ache pulsed between my thighs, as if my body was convinced I’d really been filled. With gentle hands, Stone helped me put the shirt on. Then he gathered me into his arms and lifted me up. The two of us were surrounded by the ruins, and he looked around.

“Tell me about this place,” he said. “You came here because it was important to you.”

“You remember it,” I said softly.

“I do.” His eyes were haunted, as if he regretted the way he’d spoken to his brother the night he came here to drag Brennan back to the King pack. Stone was bitter that Brennan had kept secrets. But more than that, I thought he felt guilty Brennan hadn’t trusted him.

Stone cleared his throat, breaking both of us out of our reveries. His blue eyes met mine, and they looked dark in the dim light. “But I want to see it from your eyes.”

Stone carried me over the threshold. The memory of Brennan stumbling over the threshold carrying me one day, both of us wet from the lake and laughing, rose again like a painful ghost.

Even in my dreams, Brennan was different now. Harder. Masked. Not like those memories of the laughing boy he’d been.

But then, I was so different too.

Sometimes, it hurt to remember the good things more than it hurt to remember the bad.

“The last time I came here was with Nathan.” The scent of smoke still clung to the ruined beams.

“Because he knew how much this place meant to you.”
