I never thought I would break down at the thought of losing Gracie. Especially to my best friends. I knew they always liked her. We spent enough time all together. Sometimes, it was like Gracie had four boyfriends. But she only ever kissedmeor heldmyhand.

She was my girl. Not theirs.

I step out of my car and head toward the Bakery’s front door, opening it. My shoulders relax as the smell of homemade pies hits my nose. I have always loved this place, even if it does hold too many memories.

Walking over to the counter, I order my coffee, then take a moment to look around.

Sitting on a giant chair in the corner, lost in her own world, reading, is my dollface, and I feel like smiling for the first time in weeks. I shut that shit down quick, though.

Grabbing my drink, I shuffle closer to her. I get all the way in front of her before she notices someone in her light. Only glancing up quickly, she looks back down to her book. I wait a few more seconds.

She jumps, then looks back up with a panicked expression. “Ash, shit, you scared me,” she mumbles, and my eyebrow raises at her blatant swearing. “What’s up?” she asks nervously, closing her book and sitting straighter.

“What are you reading?” I can’t help but ask as she tries to hide the cover, and her cheeks blush.

“Oh, nothing. Just a book,” she says, and I tsk.

“More lies, I see. Will you ever tell the truth, Dollface?” She scrunches her nose and sighs before handing me the book. I glance at it and laugh when I realize she’s reading a reverse harem. Interesting.

“So, you’re back. I’m assuming you talked to Dom, and since you saw I was here, you’re ready to talk to me?”

What the shit is she talking about? Does she know that he is going to ask to date her? Is that what she wants? I clear my throat and toss her book on the coffee table. She gasps and scolds me about damaging her cover wrap, but I ignore her.

“I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, Dollface, but no, I’m not here to chat with you. I came to ask you a simple question.”

“Well then, please proceed. I’d hate to interrupt your evening,” she snarks, crossing her arms. Her hair is tossed up in a bun, and a few loose strands frame her face. She nibbles on her bottom lip, and my dick twitches.

She always did know how to make me fall to my knees for her. Is that what she’s done to my friends? Seduced them so she can enact her revenge for the shed incident? I clear my throat.

“Are you ready yet? Have you had enough torment? Are you ready to tell me the truth? Or have you decided to be my maid?”

She frowns, and then her lips turn up into a scowl. “Maybe if someone would be brave enough to tell me what the fuck happened, I could start puzzling things together,” she snaps, and I suck in a breath.

Not only did she swear twice now, but she looks like she wants to take a swing at me. Climbing to her feet, she moves closer. Her perfume hits my nose, and I groan internally. Why does she always have to smell so good?

“Cute, Doll. Playing the amnesia card again, I see. When are you going to give it up, Gracie? I know you better than anyone. Well, I did before you changed,” I grumble, and her blue eyes widen.

“Ya know, the guys told me that we used to date, but I just can’t see it. You’re an asshole, Ash. I don’t remember much, but I know I would never be with a prick like you!”

She grabs her book and storms out of the bakery, leaving me staring after her, speechless and hard as a fucking rock.

ChapterSixteen

Man, I really hate that guy right now. How could I have ever dated someone like him? And why did I protect him and his asshole friends after they threw me in the shed? Why didn’t I just tell my parents, Gray, or even Dr. Pepper what happened? What makes me feel like I need to protect him? He’s an asshole.

He’s the leader of the assholes. Ash and the DICKS; Dom, Isaiah, Carter, King, and Smith. Though Carter, King, and Dom are trying to make things up to me. But Ash can kiss my ass. Seriously, who the hell does he think he is?

“Are you ready, Doll? To be my servant?”Yeah, fuck him and his couch. I am so over all the kids from school. And now that he’s back, I can assume shit is only just getting started.

“Hey, I’m home,”I yell after I walk in the door. Practice was canceled today because of a storm rolling in, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Today wasn’t horrendous, but I think it’s because Ash is still playing hooky.

“Hey, how was school?” my mom asks, wiping her hands on a dishtowel. She has music playing in the kitchen as she cooks dinner. I shrug and walk over to the fridge for a drink. I skipped lunch today because someone stole it from my locker.

I guess I’ll just have to keep it on me from now on.

“It was okay. What’s for dinner? It smells amazing.” And it really does. My mouth waters and my stomach chooses to growl loudly. My mom frowns and pushes me aside to get into the refrigerator.
