“I think I’m starting to remember him, King.” She sniffles. “And I know we’re not the same people, but…”

She trails off, and I finish for her. “He will come around. Give it some time. You have me and the guys, and we will do anything and everything to make sure you’re happy, safe, and loved,” I say, then take a deep breath. “I know it’s too soon, but I love you, Gracie,” I whisper into the back of her neck, and she gasps.

Turning to face me, she splashes water all over the floor, and I laugh. “I don’t know what love is, King, but the way I feel about you, I want to say it’s love, so I love you too,” she mumbles. Then she straddles me the best she can and presses a kiss onto my lips.

I groan, and my dick hardens. “Are you sure?” I check because I know she’s sore. She nods and places me at her entrance.

“Make love to me, King,” she says softly, looking into my green eyes.

“Always, baby.”

ChapterTwenty-Seven

The rest of the weekend was pretty boring compared to Saturday night. Dom and Carter came over as King had to meet with his tutor. I offered to help him as best I could, but honestly, I’m struggling too.

Dom brought me to Bennie’s for takeout, and I didn't want to leave. The smells were mouthwatering, and I ordered way too much food. My mom supposedly left on Friday, and I didn't even know.

She packed a bag and said she was going for a spa week. I hope it helps her. I know I still don’t remember much about her, but from what the guys have said, she used to be caring and never drank.

I’d like to have the mom I first woke up to back. Not the overbearing one, but the one who wanted to spend time with me. I enjoyed our girls' day. Gray is back with Anna. I guess she forgave him and asked him to come home.

I hope things work out for them. It’s weird being left home alone after being sheltered. Maybe they think I’m fine now that the guys have practically moved in. I thought I’d have my dad here at least, but on Sunday, as I was making omelets for the guys, he announced he has a big case and would be staying at the apartment in the city by the office.

I didn't even know we had another place to live, but I guess we also have a cabin in the Catskills and a beach house in Florida. I might have to make a trip. Dr. Pepper is also out of town, but she keeps our scheduled appointments through Facetime and checks in over the phone.

She’s proud of all the progress I’ve made, and it’s nice to be acknowledged. I think I’m starting to heal. Yes, I’d still like to know what the hell happened that night, and I miss Mia like crazy, but I’m taking everything day by day.

The guys keep talking about moving in with them after graduation once they know where King will be stationed and Dom is going to college. I think I’m actually considering it.

King even made a joke about getting married, but I think he’s kidding. I hope… I don’t know, but just the thought of marriage makes my stomach twist and my heart ache for something.

Ash didn't come over yesterday, and he didn’t answer the guys' calls either. I hope he’s okay. I think after school today, I’m going to stop over and check on him. He asked for a truce, and yeah, I get it, he freaked out the other night, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be his friend.

He means something to me, or at least to the old Gracie.

I leave the girls’ bathroom after science class, and Hope grabs my arm, tugging me into an empty classroom. My stomach flips, and I just wait for the new nasty prank.

“I knew it. I knew I shouldn’t have thought you were going to my friend,” I grumble, and she gasps.

“What? No. I need to tell you something, and Bianca can’t know I’m talking to you,” she whisper-shouts, and I roll my eyes, crossing my arms.

“Okay, then carry on,” I say, and she snorts.

“I like the new Gracie. She may actually win this thing,” she says, and I scrunch my nose.

“What are you talking about?”

“Well, I’m trying to tell you,” she snaps, and I sigh, then move over to the teacher’s desk and take a seat in their chair. That’s probably a naughty thing to do, but I’m tired and have a headache.

“The girls are planning something. I overheard them giggling about getting ‘the little bitch’ and then oinking. I don’t know what they meant, but I wanted to warn you. Just watch your back, okay.”

“Yeah, thanks, Hope.” A wave of nausea sweeps over me, and I clutch my head, closing my eyes.

“Hey babe, how was class?”Ash asks me as I collapse on his lap.

“Grrrr, so long. Can we just ditch the rest of the day? I have a horrible headache, and my stomach isn’t feeling the greatest. I may call my mom to see if I can get permission to leave.”

“No, you can't go home. We have a game today. Gracie, we need you for halftime,” Mia chimes in, annoyed. I know we have a game today, but I'm really not feeling the best.
