The look in his eyes grew intense. “Hanna, I—”
“Would it be an accurate assumption that you have never done any rock climbing?” I asked, cutting him off.
Tension that I hadn’t realized he’d been holding in his shoulders instantly vanished. “You’re talking about rock climbing,” he stated.
“Yeah. What else did you think I was talking about?” I retorted.
His brows shot up, silently questioning me.
When it hit me that he thought I’d been hinting at us going back to my place to have sex, I felt a shiver run down my spine.
Leo saw it and smiled proudly.
“We can do some rock climbing together, sweetness,” he said, as he looked away and focused his attention in front of him.
And as he pulled away, I couldn’t stop the thoughts of what it would be like to be to have the kind of workout Leo had been thinking about from running through my head. It was a wonder I’d managed to survive the trip back to my place without spontaneously combusting.
TWELVE
Leo
The sound of Hanna’s laughter rang through the air, and it was everything I never knew I wanted to hear.
I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was just yet, but there was a clear indication that a transformation was happening right in front of my eyes.
From the very first time I met Hanna, she’d been so shy and reserved that I never thought she’d come out of her shell. I knew there were people who were simply introverted and might not be as outgoing as the next person, but she was even quieter than anyone I’d ever met before her.
Or, she had been.
Only a short amount of time had passed, and I was already seeing this immense change in her. Witnessing that transformation, it wasn’t a surprise my wheels started turning. I had a feeling that Hanna wasn’t just naturally a timid woman. Something happened in her life that made her that way, and I’d have been lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit intrigued.
Of course, I understood that if there had been something that made her close herself off, then the likelihood was that if I brought it up, I’d wind up sending her right back there.
And listening to her laughter now, there wasn’t a chance I was going to take that risk and ruin any of the progress she’d made. I wholeheartedly believed that if things progressed with us the way I was beginning to hope they would, Hanna would eventually tell me whatever she thought I might need to know.
So, for now, my only plan was to continue to get to know her and enjoy this new side of her.
“I get the feeling you’re trying to cheat,” I told her, my voice slightly raised to be certain she could hear me.
Hanna gasped. “Me? How dare you say such a thing?”
Cocking an eyebrow as I looked down at her, I asked, “Are you going to let me down?”
She started to giggle, and the sound of it went straight to my dick.
“If I do that, I’ll lose,” she informed me.
“So, you are trying to cheat? There’s no way I didn’t beat your time,” I said.
“Of course, you did,” she said. “I didn’t think you’d be able to do that so fast when we turned this into a competition.”
As it turned out, after Hanna had offered me an option to get in some exercise today in a non-traditional way and I learned that she didn’t intend sex when she made the offer, we’d had to have spent at least two hours now rock climbing. After doing some traditional climbing and just enjoying the exercise and being around one another, I challenged her to a timed match.
We’d see who could climb to the top the fastest.
Hanna went first, and while her time wasn’t necessarily bad, I wasn’t worried about not being able to beat her time. Sure enough, I’d climbed up in record time, but Hanna wasn’t going to stop the clock until my feet were on the ground again.
It seemed I’d awakened her competitive spirit, because acting as the belayer, Hanna refused to give me any slack in the ropes, so I could come back down.
