Down on one knee, my hand still held in his, Johnny offered a ring to me and said, “I’m ready to see what the future holds, Kiera. You wanted to know if it gets any better from here, and I think it does. There’s only one way to find out, though. Spend the rest of your life with me, so we can see just how great it gets. I love you more than anything in this world. Will you marry me?”

He’d had this planned the whole time?

Even before he knew how I felt about having children with him or at all, he’d gone out and purchased an engagement ring. Apparently, he wasn’t kidding when he said he wasn’t willing to live without me.

Realizing he was still waiting for an answer, I did the only thing I could and rasped, “Yes.”

Johnny smiled at me, slid the ring on my finger, and stood. He lifted me in his arms, my mouth instinctively going to his. I relished the moment, committing every part of it to memory. I never wanted to forget what this felt like. I never wanted to forget how it felt to know that I’d have this man by my side for the rest of my life, and I hoped that my kiss communicated to him just how happy he’d made me.

When we lost the connection between our mouths, I stared up at him with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. “I love you, and I can’t wait to see what life has in store for us.”

“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, Kiera. And if you feel for me even half as much of the love I feel for you, I know that this is going to be the best adventure of our lives,” he returned.

“There’s no possible way you could love me more than I love you,” I announced.

“How about we call it even, so we can try to collect a few more shells before I take you out dancing tonight?” he suggested.

We were going to be married. Marriage encompassed a lot of things, but I had a feeling that compromise was a big part of it. So, I replied, “I can work with that.”

After we took another moment to simply stare at one another, Johnny pulled me in for another kiss. But the truth was, I didn’t put up much of a fight.

And later that night, he took me out dancing to celebrate our engagement. It was even better than the first time we’d gone dancing together.

FIVE

Johnny

Two years later

“Johnny.”

That voice.

That voice, still raspy from sleep, saying my name first thing in the morning was something I knew I was never going to get tired of hearing. It was just another reason for me to be happy about the decision I’d made to officially make this woman mine.

Kiera was mine forever.

It took a bit longer than I had hoped it would to get here, but we were finally married two days ago.

Our wedding day was unforgettable. Or, maybe it wasn’t so much the day itself that I’d always remember. Instead, it was her.

Kiera was the most beautiful bride in the world, and it wasn’t lost on me just how lucky I was to have her.

Seeing her walk down the aisle, knowing she was making her way to me, I found myself struggling to breathe. Something tightened in my chest at the sight of her. She took my breath away, and I wasn’t too proud to admit that I got a bit emotional.

I didn’t care how it made me look. Kiera was the love of my life, and I was overcome by my feelings for her and what that day meant in our lives.

Now, we were here on our honeymoon, staying at a luxurious resort in Hawaii, and I was soaking up every moment I had with my brand-new wife.

My wife.

I almost felt bad for every other man in the world who might be attracted to her, because there was no question I’d lucked out. Not only was Kiera smart, funny, sweet, and determined, but she was unbelievably gorgeous.

She had long, dark brown hair that cascaded down her back, landing just a few inches above her ass. Kiera was shorter than me, but standing at about five feet seven inches tall, she wasn’t what I would have considered short. Her body was slender and relatively toned, but she was soft in all the right places. Her hips were made for holding on to, her ass perfectly shaped and perky, and her breasts were heavy, round, and full. Pale green eyes, plump pink lips, and beautiful cheeks made up the best features of her pretty face.

Yep.

I’d gotten incredibly lucky.
