That was precisely the reason that once he got things going last night, I had moments when I took over. Because I wanted him to know how much the effort he’d put in throughout the day meant to me. It seemed we were both content to continue outdoing one another. I had a feeling that as long as that continued, we’d never have to worry about a thing.

I was basking in all of that and the warmth of his body pressed close to mine as I struggled to keep my eyes open.

But then it hit me, and suddenly, I no longer had any trouble trying to keep myself awake.

My eyes shot wide open as I gasped and sat up in the bed. Johnny had lost purchase on my waist as I tossed the blanket back and scrambled out of the bed.

“Johnny, get up,” I demanded.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, sitting up, looking alarmed.

“It’s ten forty-six,” I explained. “We have fourteen minutes to check out.”

Johnny’s eyes left my face, traveled down my naked form, lingered on two separate spots, and eventually returned to my face. “Come back to bed, Kiera.”

My jaw dropped open. “Are you nuts? Johnny, there’s no time for that. We have to pack all of our things and get dressed.”

Johnny fell backward, his head hitting the pillow while I continued to dash around the room, gathering up things and throwing them into my suitcase. “Baby, come back to bed.”

“What are you not understanding about this? We’re now down to thirteen minutes,” I panicked.

Seconds passed, but Johnny didn’t move. I let out a huff, got back to what I was doing, and continued to pack my suitcase. The next thing I knew, I was practically flying through the air as Johnny had picked me up and tossed me onto the bed. I landed on my back in the middle of it and barely had the opportunity to allow that to register when his body came over mine.

Just as I was about to speak, he kissed me quiet. Having successfully silenced me, he pulled back and said, “I told you to come back to bed.”

“We have to go,” I told him.

“We’re not going anywhere,” he stated.

“What?”

Johnny pressed a soft kiss to my lips, moved my jaw, and ultimately buried his face in my neck. Then he reached down, grabbed the sheets and the blanket, and pulled them up over our bodies. “We’re not leaving, Kiera.”

“We’re supposed to check out at eleven,” I reminded him.

“Wewere.Now, we’re not.”

“What?”

Curling his arm around my waist again, turning my body, and hauling it up against his so my back was pressed close to his front, he spoke. “You said you took the next couple of weeks off, so I arranged for us to stay for another week. I want us to do everything you didn’t get to thoroughly enjoy this past week. But I was thinking we could start all of that after we get some rest, because I’m exhausted.”

He booked an extra week for us?

We were staying here simply because he wanted me to be able to do everything with him that I hadn’t been able to enjoy this past week?

“Are you serious?” I asked.

“I’m not packing up my stuff, am I?” he countered.

He wasn’t.

He definitely wasn’t in a rush to get out before we got charged extra for not leaving on time. I guess he was being serious.

“Johnny, I can’t believe you did this,” I said.

“I did it,” he mumbled.

“I think I’m going to cry,” I told him.
