With both of them attacking, I found it difficult to defend myself. I was able to shake one off, but I was struggling with two. My muscles are aching, and deep down, I’m disappointed in myself. I know I am better than this.

Kai hands me a towel. “Not bad for a girl,” he tells me as he chuckles.

“Let’s go again. I can prove to you I’m able to look after myself,” I say, hoping the Princes will stop treating me as if I’m defenceless. I’m not. I’m stronger than they all think.

Kai smiles, before he smirks and says, “You can hold your own, but if we had weapons, you wouldn’t stand a chance, sweetheart.”

“Then teach me how to use them,” I beg.

When I was younger, I hated anything to do with weapons. But now my father is no longer here to protect me, I have to look after myself. I’m going to become a target when I marry Judah, so I’ll have to know how to make a kill. I’m not going to rely on these men. I don’t want to.

“I’ll talk to Jude,” Kai tells me. “But I don’t see it being a problem. We’ll start next week.”

DRIVE YOU INSANE

JUDAH

She’s nervous around me.I wanted so badly to play a game with her, to see how she’d react. The edge of the cliff is dangerous, but I enjoy the rush of not knowing if fate will step in and steal me away. Holding her body so close was intoxicating. I didn’t expect her to keep as calm as she did. But feeling her chest rising and falling against mine had my dick rock fucking hard. And there’s no doubt she felt it. I’m convinced she’s just as attracted to me as I am to her.

When I took her to the cliff edge, I wanted to make her realise she could so easily be killed. I still have my doubts about her, but I know she’s been forced to come here because of the fucking contract. Perhaps that’s why I don’t trust her, because she didn’t choose us—she didn’t choose me. Brielle was thrown into the lion’s den, and now she’s having to fight to stay alive.

As we pull up to the street party, that’s already in full swing, I don’t bother looking at her. I’m focused on the crowds that have gathered. The street races will start soon, and I’m looking forward to seeing who will rise up the ranks. At the moment, I hold the record and Valen’s in third place. Kai doesn’t race, but he does ensure our vehicles are looked after and faster than the usual run-of-the-mill sports cars.

When Valen helps Brielle from the car, I have to fight the urge to tell her to cover the fuck up. The moment she came down the stairs earlier, it took all my willpower not to show her how she affected me. I don’t like it, and I don’t fucking need this distraction. I told her to dress up, but I didn’t mean for her to show off so much skin. She may as well be naked.

“This is so cool,” she says as she smiles up at Val, and my stomach twists.

She considers him a friend, or perhaps something even closer. She drives me insane, yet I’m intrigued by her. The shiny black leggings she’s wearing have a slit down the outside of each leg, from her hip to her ankle. The edges of the material are laced together, but the thin string barely keeps them in place. Her long legs look delicious, and I can’t deny I’m thinking about the day they’re wrapped around my waist.

Her top is a red, loose-fitting, strap tank that billows in the breeze, and I can tell she’s not wearing a bra. Granted, her tits aren’t exposed, but still, the thought of them being uncovered, bared to me, has been playing in my mind since I got in the car.

“Do you want a drink?” Val asks her, and as he takes her hand, darkness clouds my vision because he has to realise we need to keep our wits about us. We can’t risk getting her drunk, especially when these arseholes around us are gawking at our girl.

“She’s not drinking,” I bite out in annoyance, and pin Val with a glare. “Focus.”

There are too many students around tonight, and she’s already had an altercation with one of them. There’s no need to have her defences lowered by alcohol.

“I’d like a drink,” Brielle announces, looking at me, but addressing Valen. “Thank you.” She turns to my best friend, and smiles.

I reach out, grab her arm, and drag her to my car. Her back hits the driver’s door, and she glares up at me. I don’t miss the hint of fear, but I also notice the desire that swirls in her eyes. Fuck.

“When I say no,” I tell her, keeping my voice low. It looks like I’m being a possessive boyfriend to everyone else around us, but I know she can see the crazed dominance that’s coiling deep within me. “It’s no. And I expect you to listen to me, obey me, and trust me.”

“How do I trust you when you don’t trust me,” she throws back, and I can’t argue with her. She’s right. I still can’t bring myself to trust her, because I still don’t know her well enough.

I lean in further, my mouth at her cheek, and her sweet scented perfume fills my nostrils.

“Trust, my darling, is earned,” I whisper in her ear, causing her to shiver against me.

I should have brought her a jacket, but I didn’t think about it. When I saw what she was wearing, the only thing on my mind was bending her over and ripping those fucking leggings from her body.

“So is respect,” she murmurs as she rises up on her tiptoes, and her words feather along my ear, down my neck, and cause my dick to throb with need.

I move back slightly and take in her face. Her mouth is pure perfection, and I can clearly envision my cock sliding between those sensuous lips. I hate her, but I also want to fuck her within an inch of her life.

Jesus.

What the fuck is wrong with me?
