ChapterOne

Mattie

Well, shit.

I sure as fuck didn't expect my week to start off like this.

One second, I was tying the new light-up shoes I purchased at Little Store with my bestie Cyan a few weeks ago.

The next?

Two lunatics grabbed me and threw me in a fucking van.

"Goddamn y'all bitches." A grumbly roar escapes me.

Here's the deal.

I, Mattie McDonough, have never been kidnapped before.

I don't even READ about kidnappings in books.

(I'm more of a fluffy, sweet reads kinda guy.)

(Not sweet as in "clean," but as inI'll hand you your favorite stuffy after I fuck the lights out of you.)

The fact that these jackasses kidnapped me is the mystery of the century.

Who did I tick off?

I know my besties—Cyan, Ryder, and Enzo—are all dating mobsters, but that shouldn't impact me.

"Therewasthat smoking hot tattooed dude I met in the coffee shop before my friends left for Italy." I bring my fingers to my chin.

Mr. Mystery Man—that's what I call him.

He was dark. Menacing. Sexy.

Prison tattoos covered every inch of his arms.

Enzo told me that he was an ex-con who'd been to jail for murder.

A tingle shoots through me.

I groan as I stare at my dick. "Not now, willy. I'm being kidnapped."

One of the men in the front seat glares at me. "Quit talking."

I stick my nose in the air. "You could turn on some music."

The other man stares at the first. "He has a point."

The man who spoke first snarls at him. "I'm doing music-free July."

The other man's eyebrows twist into knots. "I've never heard of that."

"I'm listening to podcasts this month." The first man taps his phone. "It's supposed to boost my IQ."

"Well, you need that," the other man drawls. "You're not the brightest bulb on the tree."
