He cracks his neck. "Of course it is."

"No—even Enzo agreed."

"I’msurehe did," Remy drawls. It sounds like he mutterstrauma bondingafter this, but I can’t tell for sure.

"When Enzo caught me talking to my ex-boyfriend, he convinced himself that there was nothing he could do about it—because it was to be expected. He thought I was very immature."

"Youareimmature."

"Not in the way he thought," I grit back.

"Uh huh."

"Believe it."

Remy checks his cuticles. "I’m done with this conversation."

"I was done first," I snap.

"You haven’t asked meanythingabout Tommaso." Remy sounds piiiiiiissed. "All you do is rant and rave about your things."

"My things are more interesting than your things," I explain. "It’s not my fault you’re boring."

"Your podcast choices are boring as hell," Remy snaps. "There are plenty of exciting ones to choose from. You choose the blandest comedy bros to murder my eardrums with. I thought you were doing music-free July to learn new things."

My eyes roll to the whites. "I’m learning how to craft a killer joke."

"Your podcasts suck."

Those are fighting words.

With a snarl, I rise to my feet and march to Remy’s side. "You want to take it out in the ring, extortionist boy?"

Remy’s claim to Luciano family infamy is his extortion of Tommaso. He reeled him in by spinning a giant sob story about being trapped with an abusive daddy. Two months in, he demanded that Tommaso start coughing up cash if Tommaso didn’t want his kinky side blasted on the internet.

The first time Remy threatened him, Tommaso thought he was joking. As it turned out, he was serious. Every week, Remy demanded more cash—and he’d give in. A few hundred dollars there, a new bag here. Eventually, it got so bad that Romeo Luciano asked what the fuck was going on when he saw Tommaso’s credit card statements.

When Tommaso tried to break things off with Remy, Remy demanded one million dollars or else he'd sell photos of Tommaso changing his diaper to his enemies.

Remy smirks. "Don’t be mad that I know how to get what I want."

"Yeah," I hit back. "Throughillegalmeans."

"Because you’re so innocent," he hits back.

I stick my nose in the air. "As far as Enzo is concerned, I’m the spitting image of morality."

Remy pushes out a breath as he cracks open his laptop. "Let’s figure out how to get Mattie back."

Smart thinking.

I scoot beside him. "Hey, you’re not bad looking."

Remy glares at me. "Now isnotthe time."

I place my palm on his thigh. "Shhh. Let me keep this here while we work."

Remy glances down, then groans. "I’m still trying to figure out what your wholedrinkdiscussion is about. This isn’t helping me form positive conclusions."
