"Christ."

"When Luigi, Petrie, and Giuseppe confronted the Halal shop owners after they received a tip from Ryder's former boss, they gave up the footage. Now, they want revenge."

"I heard something about a land deal that went bad. Can you tell me about that?" I ask.

"This entire fight started because the Lucianos murdered Paulo because he wouldn’t agree to sell their family’s Tuscan villa."

"So, who’s really the instigator?"

"I’ll be damned if I know."

"Is it the Lucianos or the Riccardis?" I query.

Enzo shrugs. "In Mafia life, dying over business deals is common. Paulo knew what he was getting into."

Ah. In that case, the Lucianos are obviously in the right.

"Still," I spit out. "No wonder the Riccardis hate the Lucianos."

"The Riccardis wereespeciallyticked off at Cyan because he helped Tommaso solve the bedbug virus riddle."

I turn to Cyan. At present, he’s prancing around a field of flowers and singing a song.

"I can’t see Cyan being much of a threat," I growl.

"Cyan is a brilliant computer geek," Enzo says in a low voice.

"Yeah, right," I drawl.

"He can hack motherboards and code like no one’s business."

"Those are some advanced techie terms," I say. "You’d better speak to me at normie level."

Cyan faces Enzo. "Hurry up, Enzo. We’ll be late to our appointment with Mr. Beach."

"That’s the name of the inflatables supplier we’re buying new arm floaties from," Enzo explains. "He sells them from his boat. He’s a friend of Tommaso’s."

I nod. "I’ll meet you there in twenty minutes. I’ve got to buy Daddy his card."

Enzo pats my head. "You’re cute. Don't get kidnapped."

"I won’t." I punch the air. "If someone tries, I’ll uppercut them in the face."

"Good boy."

I let Enzo head to the beach with Cyan and Ryder.

After he’s gone, I skip into the street with a handful of euros—ready to purchase Medici his lovely card.

I think I’ll buy a yellow one because I’m his sunflower.

I’m turning the corner when two men leap out of bushes.

"You’re coming with us."

Medici

"We’ll be expecting you at nine-thirty," the receptionist says. "The roses will be in your suite when you arrive."
