Mattie wraps his arms around me. "You’re giving me that look again."
I groan as I kick, supporting both of us. "Quit hugging me, boy. We’ll drown."
"No." He plants a kiss on my tattooed chest muscles. "You’re my life preserver."
All at once, a young man on the cliff above us draws our attention.
"Cannonball," he shouts.
Everyone in the water swims away as fast as they can—too late.
Dino soars through the air before splashing beside Mattie’s head.
Crash.
Mattie shrieks as water slaps his face, knocking the wind out of him.
"Dino," he shouts, anger flooding his voice.
Dino pops up from under the surface. "I could do that all day long."
Ryder, Cyan, and Enzo are soaking wet. "You’ve got to be joking."
Dino turns to them. "It was only a cannonball. Relax."
Giosuè swims to Dino’s side. "How is it that you haven’t banged my Uncle yet?"
"I’m waiting on that mysterious party you’re supposed to throw me," Dino drawls. "You’re sure taking your time."
Faro shakes his head. "Just break into Romeo’s room and climb on top of him while he’s sleeping."
"Don't give the crazy fucker any ideas," I growl.
Dino makes a clucking sound. "I already harassed him once with my eighteen-year-old stripping skills. If he wants me,heneeds to make a move."
Cyan rolls his eyes. "Romeo’s worried you’ll reject him."
"Well, I’m worried he’ll rejectme. Again."
Mattie palms his forehead. "We’ve reached an impasse."
All at once, something slips out of his ass—and he groans as he tries to nab it.
"Damnit, Daddy!" He makes a pouty face.
I thrust my fingers through his. "What is it, boy? Are the Riccardis nearby in a submarine?"
Mattie fights back a sniffle. "My knife fell."
"Ahhh, don't worry." Faro smiles triumphantly. "I’m a diver."
He dips beneath the water and swims around the ocean floor.
Within seconds, he rises to the surface and brandishes Mattie’s knife. "I’m not sure I want to touch this thing."
Mattie clutches it to his chest. "Thank you. You rock."
