Giosuè groans, then pinches the bridge of his nose. "Tell me what happened to the Dino I used to know."

My eyes roll to the whites. "Don't be dramatic."

"You used to go after what you wanted with zero shame. Nothing stood in your way."

I set my binoculars down. "I can’t, okay? Romeo—that beautiful man—needs to make the first move."

I go back and forth on this quite a bit. Sometimes, I conclude thatImust make the first move—other times, I backtrack and think Romeo should.

Look—I refuse to fuck things up again. I want Romeo as my Daddy. My Daddy in every way—to build me into a better boy, to cuddle, and of course, to make love to.

Giosuè can’t help but sigh. "Romeo is totally into you. All you need to do is show him you still want him."

I lay down on my back and look at the stars. "Romeo is a weak man who’ll break if do too much, too soon. Hell—at his advanced age, a spontaneous confession of my feelings for him will give him a heart attack."

Giosuè glares at me. "Heknowsyou like him."

"Does he?" I snap, getting heated now. "He doesn’t act like it."

"Well, I have it on good authority that he’s still crazy for you—that’s why Aunt Isabella set him free, after all."

This was a whole big thing apparently. Isabella, that lovely yet crazy woman, told Romeo that she was sick of faking it in the bedroom with him—that maybe they weren’t compatible anymore.

She was into a woman she met at her country club. This woman was going through a rough divorce (her asshole husband cheated on her), and Isabella swooped in to save her.

They enjoy knitting sweaters, going on wilderness expeditions in the woods, and lifting weights at the gym. And scissoring.

I pinch the bridge of my nose. "I’d make a move if he told me he was interested."

"He is."

"Well, I want to hear it firsthand."

"You don't always get what you want in life," Giosuè drawls.

"Well,I do." My voice is firm. Packed with determination. "And I want him.And I’m not going to fuck things up before I have the chance to have him."

Giosuè rests his head on my shoulder. "Can I tell you about my new Daddy?"

My racing heart calms a bit when Giosuè says this. I pat his hair like I always do during our sleepovers, then nod. "I’m listening."

Giosuè has wanted a Daddy since forever. Watching his older cousins find their boys only added to this deep-rooted need.

Sometimes, when we were young, I used to pretend to be his Daddy. He doesn’t like to admit this, but I could tell he was femme, even then.

When he’d change into dresses to hit the town, he always asked me to help put his panties on.

I had zero qualms with it. We were best friends, after all.But now that he’s come out as a femboy, his requests make more sense.

"Xavier is wonderful, Dino." Giosuè’s eyes well with tears. "He saw me sitting on a bench—I was so sad. The Daddy I’d been talking to wanted nothing to do with me."

I nod. "It’s a shame he was such a prick."

Giosuè shakes his head. "That’s where you’re wrong. I’mgladthat other Daddy treated me like garbage. If he hadn’t, Xavier never would’ve stopped to speak to me—and I wouldn’t have been invited to his house where we could be our true selves."

I tuck a strand of hair over his left ear. "I’m glad to hear that, bestie."

"Xavier is wonderful." Giosuè rubs his damp eyes on his forearm. "He’s everything I’ve ever wanted—he accepts me for me. My femme side. My Little side. I can’t wait to explore Little Giosuè with him in more depth. We’ll be together for a long time. I can already tell."
