“I’m sorry, Rob. That’s terrible!” I hold his trembling hands. “I didn’t mean to bring back those memories. Today of all days.”

“Today of all days should be the time I come clean. I have no regrets. That’s my story, Amber-Rose. The media might’ve portrayed me otherwise, but I’m not a heartless man who would abandon a woman and a child.”

He squeezes my hand. Many hands have held me, but from this moment on, I only want his.

Rob goes on, once again revealing his burden. “I still hold grudges, but I’ll work on it. If you ever feel like you’re bearing the brunt of my emotions, just remind me of this conversation.”

If every man could be this open and honest with his partner, relationship therapists and divorce lawyers would be out of business. He bares it all, with his words and his eyes. There’s no sliver of a doubt.

I lace my fingers through his. “Can I say that you’re safe with me now? Just like I’m safe with you?”

A smile paints his face, warm and gentle. “We’re a good team. So, what do I do now?” he asks—not so much a question, but a cue for me to say something he wants to hear.

“Love me.”

“I already have.”

“Then there’s only one more thing left for us to do today.”

I extend my arms to him, wrists together as if I was cuffed.

He narrows his gaze. “Can I break you in a different way?” He nods at a leather chest at the foot of the bed.

“Anything for you, Rob Hart—”

He presses his lips against mine, sealing them shut. Despite the haste, his contact is patient and measured—he isn’t trying to conquer me. He’s simply heating me up.

ROB

I take time to appraise Amber-Rose. Her head rests on my pec as I carry her back to bed. Her breasts are swollen and red, partly thanks to the chest’s leather surface rubbing her, partly thanks to my gorging mouth. I simply can’t get enough of her.

Our bodies wrangle together as they hit the cool linen sheet. I lay her right where my bruises are.

“Rob…” she sighs. Earlier, when I took off my shirt, she freaked out seeing those blackened marks.

“Shh… just lie there,” I murmur. Having her on my healthy side feels great, but having her on the part that’s giving me pain is amazing.

As she slowly drifts to sleep, I let myself get lost in her peace.

I have definitely broken her in a different way. The moment froze when we climaxed together, and I released a full serving of my seed into her with no protection. My mind was wiped of everything except the contact between us. We were not just close—we were in each other. It wasn’t just an orgasm. It was what intimacy is—untainted and uncomplicated.

Amber-Rose shivers. Stretching carefully so I don’t wake her, I reach for the covers and pull them over us. Her mouth releases a comforted breath—leading me to admire her stunning features. The scar next to her dimple must’ve been from the injuries inflicted by Aidan. But aside from that, her skin is flawless. A miracle—one she deserves, because she has the heart of an angel. And from now on, I promise myself, I will destroy anyone who tries to take her away from me. If I have to kill, I will.

I take her hand the way I did at Lake Geneva. She gives a small smile. I’m happy to know that the way she’s looked at my hands all this time wasn’t a nightmare after all.

AMBER

I might’ve passed out from too much pleasure, but I feel Rob caressing my cheek. I squint to see his face. Boy… that is the face of one hell of a sated man. Pleasure pirouettes in his eyes, making his irises a lighter shade of blue, a happier blue.

Realizing I’m still lying on his bruised side, I quickly lift myself up—only to be pressed back down by Rob’s impressive hand.

“It feels good. Just lie there.” His voice curls over me.

I oblige, lying sideways while his arm snakes under me to reach for mine. We’re really made for each other. Even the contour of my cheek seems to follow the curve of his pec perfectly.
