CLAYTON

As we’ve been informed earlier by Neo’s PA, the prince is called to another event shortly after we conclude our presentation.

Rob, Amber, Isabelle, and I are now ambling back to the office area.

“Did you and the prince play basketball together or something?” Isabelle asks. In typical Neo fashion, during the presentation, he pointed out the absence of a basketball court in our model.

“Oh, you read about that, huh?” I hook my arm around her waist loosely, then move in closer to her, dropping my hand to her ass.

Jesus… I wish I’d insisted on bedding her in that showroom Pentela.

Isabelle raises her eyes to mine, and my hand coasts back up to her waist.

Actually, I’m glad we didn’t fuck. If I’m to make love to her, it can’t be just a five-minute blitz. I’m no good with quickies because I must give my woman good foreplay. She’s got to be well aroused. Only then will I ask her to take me.

“Raffi told me. You and the prince played on one of your yachts.”

I glance at Rob, and Isabelle traces my gaze.

“That hoop-off, it happened after his first date with Amber,” I tell Isabelle.

“It wasn’t just a date. Well, it’s a long story,” Amber gushes. “Right, husband?” She tugs Rob toward her, giving him a small kiss.

Isabelle drops her head onto my shoulder as if sayingI want that—not just the story and the kiss, but them, what they’ve got together.

It’s playing on my mind that the moment is coming for me to propose to her. Exactly when, where, or how, I don’t know yet. I just want it sooner rather than later.

“Hey, why don’t we show Isabelle the ‘P’?” Rob suggests.

“What’s the ‘P’?” Isabelle queries.

“You’ll see.” I wink. We make a little detour to the speed wing. “I’ve got it!” I step ahead of the group and swipe us in.

“What is that?” Isabelle gapes at the vessel—its surface gleam under the spotlight.

I tug her so she can see the racing beauty closer. “This is the Peregrine. A hyper-speed vehicle made of airplane engines.”

Isabelle furrows her brows. “But it’s a boat, right?”

“It is a boat, my dear,” I explain, patting her back and telling her it’s okay to be confused. Truly, the ‘P’ looks more like a jet than a boat. “Rob broke the world record for speed on water with it. It’s still standing.”

“Impressive.”

“He wanted to break another record, water speed at night, but—” I glance at Amber.

With delight, my sister-in-law chimes in, “By the time he thought he was ready, Graeme was born. So he put his plan on hold. And then the second time he was going to attempt it, I got pregnant again.”

My brother kisses his wife. “I don’t think I’m going to pursue that record any more, or any other record.” He puts his hand on Amber’s belly.

I angle a glance at Isabelle. She’s smiling, but her gaze tells me her mind is somewhere else. What’s the matter with her today?

I pull her close, and there she goes… she smiles again.

“Ugh,” Amber pants. “I think I’m gonna hang around in your office, Rob.”

“Hey, you okay?” Rob rubs her back.

“Yeah. I need to sit down.”
