“I’m going too.” Stasio already liked Jasmine’s brother for helping his cousin out.

Brett inclined his head. “Just don’t get Jasmine into trouble. You know you’re the first guy she has shown an interest in, and I trust her instincts. Don’t abuse my trust.”

“I have Jasmine’s interests at heart.” Stasio did, even though he hadn’t stopped her from helping them overthrow the Scottish League.

“Good. That’s all I wanted to know.” Then Brett gave Jasmine another hug and left them in the lobby.

“Let’s get some sleep,” Levka said. “We’ll see all of you for dinner before you have to head out for the hearing.”

“Alright, that sounds good,” Stasio said.

Gareth said, “I wanted to see my brothers, to thank them for everything.”

“But if they’re anything like me, you’d better not wake them unless it’s a life-or-death matter,” Levka said.

Gareth laughed. “You know my brothers well.”

Jasmine held up her keycard and said to Ruric, “One keycard for Stasio and me?”

“No other rooms were available.” Ruric winked at her.

She laughed. “Right. You can get rooms for us even when a place is totally booked.”

“If you don’t want to stay with Stasio, you can stay with me,” Ruric said. “Otherwise, I have to room with Arman.”

She laughed again. “In your dreams. Come on, Stasio.”

Then they all retired to their rooms.

“You know you could always just convince the desk clerk to give someone else’s room up so you can have it,” Stasio said.

“Oryoucould.” Jasmine had hold of his hand when she led him down the hall to their room and he smiled at her.

“I could.”

“But you have to be with me to protect me, like my brother said.” Jasmine smiled at him.

“Absolutely. And this way you can keep an eye on me.” Besides, he knew she wanted him to stay with her and was just giving Ruric and him a hard time.

“So you don’t stray?”

Stasio laughed.

Jasmine thoughtshe would love being back in her hometown, but now that she was there, she was glad they would be returning to Scotland to live on the former elder’s estate. It was so much nicer than the small apartment she lived in. But more than that, she really liked this crazy bunch of vampires she’d hooked up with.

When they went down for dinner, they met with Gareth’s brothers and the vampires.

“Thanks for helping us with everything,” Jasmine told Gareth’s brothers.

Cadfael and Llewelyn raised their glasses of water to her.

“We are doing this just as much for Gareth as we are for you,” Cadfael said.

“And any other unsuspecting vampire who even thinks about dating Edith,” Llewelyn said.

After dinner, it was time for the three brothers, Jasmine, and Stasio to go to the hearing, but the rest of the team would be on high alert. Ruric had made reservations for the hotel that was closest to the hearing site so they could come to their friends’ aid if they needed them to.
