A dozen blurry images washed through her mind before she whipped her head back toward the table.

Na’ith muttered. “Point, and they will portion your plate.”

She nodded and leaned forward, but Heboren held her back against him. “Just point.”

She pointed with her open hand to some shredded meat, then a different type of meat, a chewy gel, and then curled her fingers in. Heboren chuckled, wrapped his hand over her own, and pointed to the same items and then the minced vegetables and pickled items.

“You need to eat more. You still need to regain twenty percent of your body weight and condition.” He spoke softly against her ear. “I thought you would have been more recovered by now, but I guess you were busy burning calories in the gym.”

“Oh. So, no sense in gaining weight if it isn’t useful weight?”

He casually cupped her breast. “I believe a higher ratio would help you keep up with me.”

“Keep up?” She stared at platters being arranged in front of them.

“Yes,Iwill be the means that you use to burn energy in the future.”

Oh.She washed her hands and picked up the fork, starting her meal. The young men gasped, and she shrugged and kept eating. She was supposed to wait for the overseer, but she was sitting on his lap, and he insisted that she eat, so she did.

There were several items she hadn’t seen before, and she tried not to think about the flavours too much. She looked at Heboren when she realized that he wasn’t going to eat. All this food was for her and Na’ith.

She looked at Na’ith with wide eyes. “Start eating. He isn’t going to.”

He chuckled. “Overseer, you aren’t eating?”

“No. I had a snack earlier. I am going to supervise.” He rubbed his thumb against her neck.

She swallowed hard. “That isn’t helpful.”

Na’ith pointed out the items he wanted and started eating.

They ate, and the young crewmen filed out for a few minutes. Heboren started to give Na’ith more updates, and then he started to ask for details about Nova’s activities.

Nova kept eating until she was full. She was surprised. About seventy-five percent of the selections were gone.

“So, she woke up Hu’oth and forced him to take her to the hub?”

Na’ith shrugged. “She does have pilot qualifications.”

She nibbled at some of the vegetables. “I actually do.”

Heboren chuckled. “Do you really need a lecture on what your status is as my consort?”

“I wasn’t the consort then. I was just companion class. Valuable but not irreplaceable.”

“That is a technicality.”

She shrugged. “My world used to revolve around technicalities.”

“But this is not your world, and you are no longer a citizen with the rights granted to those who are born on the soil.”

Nova blinked at the reminder. “Right. Yeah. I forgot... Please, forgive me, Overseer.”

“Now, Nova. I do want to hear you beg but not for forgiveness. So, how was it, flying the hub?”

She had to change gears from embarrassment to anticipation, and then she had to give her opinion. “It was great. It was a little dizzying but still fun. I just wish I had a proper suit for it so I wasn’t messed up when I came out.”

Na’ith chuckled. “I am sure we can arr—nevermind.”
