Chapter 4

The Attraction Grows

As the weeks went on, Emily developed a routine of prioritizing the projects, research needed for each one, and the deadlines she needed to meet.

The new assignments also required her to work more closely with Mr. Thomas, and with each moment spent in his presence, Emily couldn't help but notice that her feelings for him were growing stronger. Deeper. She couldn’t afford to have these feelings. Emotions like these did not belong in the office. She did her best to squash them whenever she could. But the man was eye-candy and smelt like heaven and the combination wreaked havoc on her senses.

One day, Mr. Thomas asked Emily to work directly with him on a project. It was a high-profile assignment that required a lot of attention to detail, and Emily knew that it was a great opportunity to prove herself to him.

As they worked together, Emily couldn't help but feel drawn to Mr. Thomas. She admired his dedication and professionalism, and she found herself feeling a sense of attraction towards him.

Over the next few days, Emily and Mr. Thomas worked closely together on the project. They spent long hours in the office, discussing strategies and making plans. Emily found herself getting to know Mr. Thomas on a more personal level, and she began to see him as more than just her boss.

One day, as they were working on the project, Mr. Thomas turned to Emily and looked at her for a moment. Emily felt her heart race as she met his gaze.

"You know, Emily," he said, his tone serious. "I've been impressed with your work lately. You've really stepped up to the plate and proven yourself."

Emily felt pride at his praise. She had done her best to live up to the expectations he had for each employee.

"Thank you, sir," she said, a hint of a smile on her lips.

Mr. Thomas nodded and looked at her for a moment longer before shaking his head and turning back to the project. Emily couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement at the thought that he might be starting to see her in a different light.

As the days went on, Emily and Mr. Thomas continued to work closely together on the project. They spent long hours in the office, discussing strategies and making plans. Emily found herself getting to know Mr. Thomas on a more personal level as they shared short stories of their pasts, family, and friends. It was during those long hours she began to see him as the man he was and not just her boss.

One night, after they had completed work on the project, Mr. Thomas suggested that they go out for a drink together. Emily felt a flutter in her chest as she accepted his invitation. She knew that it was risky to spend time with her boss outside of work, but she couldn't resist the opportunity to get to know him better.

They went to a local bar and sat at a small table in the corner. Emily felt a bit nervous as she sipped her drink, but Mr. Thomas put her at ease with his easy conversation and charming smile. Who knew the hardcore, intimidating man who ruled his company with an iron fist was able to kick back and relax. Smile, even.

As the night wore on, Emily’s attraction grew stronger for the man she worked for each day. She couldn't help but be drawn to his confidence and intensity. The chemistry was electrifying, sending a shock through her body in waves. She shifted in her chair in an attempt to ease the overwhelming sensations her body was enduring.

The night grew late. Mr. Thomas paid the bill as they stood.

As they were leaving the bar, Mr. Thomas put his hand on Emily's arm and looked at her for a moment. Emily’s heart pounded behind her ribcage as she made eye contact with the man in front of her.

"Emily, I just want you to know that I appreciate all of the hard work you've been putting in," he said, his voice soft. "And I also want you to know I have noticed your growth and improvement over the past few months. You’ve made yourself a cherished and valuable member of my team; one I am proud to have on board."

Relief flooded Emily. She had worked hard these past few weeks and to know he recognized it made her feel special.

"Thank you, sir," she said, feeling a bit shy all of a sudden.

Mr. Thomas smiled at her and leaned in a bit closer. Emily felt her heart skip a beat as she caught the scent of his cologne. It was quickly becoming her favorite scent.

"I also wanted to say, you’re a very attractive woman, Emily," he said, his voice low and seductive. "And I've been having a hard time keeping my thoughts about you professional."

Emily felt a rush of heat spread through her body at his words. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Was Mr. Thomas really attracted to her.

She looked up at him, meeting his gaze. She could see the desire and attraction in his eyes, and it made her heart race.

"Sir, I don't think that's appropriate," she said, trying to sound professional. She took a small step back but maintained eye contact with him, showing a confidence she didn’t truly feel.

Mr. Thomas leaned in a bit closer, his lips almost touching hers. Emily could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she looked up at him in shock.

"Emily, I know that it's risky," he said, his voice low and seductive. "But I can't help the way that I feel about you. And, if I am being honest, I have noticed the way you look at me. I know this feeling is mutual. This is something I think we owe to ourselves to explore."

Emily felt a sense of excitement and fear at the thought of being with Mr. Thomas. She knew that it was risky to have a relationship with her boss, but she couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards him. But what would people say if they found out?

"I...I don't know, sir," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
