About Ashlee

Ashlee enjoys writing sensual, sweet, or hot romance stories featuring alpha bad boys (who doesn't love a bad boy taking control?), role play scenarios, comedy, and revenge. Well, pretty much almost anything in the romance genre.

Ashlee enjoys spending her days either reading when she's not writing...or hanging out with her family or on social media. What an addiction, right?! Her reading and writing genre of choice is steamy romance. Who wouldn't love to escape reality within the pages of a romance book that has a touch of spice?

Ashlee loves connecting with readers (reading their thoughts, opinions, and suggestions - both good and bad, have helped her grow and learn as a writer) and supporting fellow authors. So, why not give her a follow/like?

The Second Love of Charlotte Dodd

Holly Kerr

Chapter One

The sound of the engine reverberates against the walls of the underground parking lot. Loud, but I’m so far past getting a headache from the sound of fast cars that it’s a mere buzz in my ears.

Besides, I’m having too much fun to care.

When we got to the theatre, I had parked in the lowest level of the parking garage, the farthest away from the exit. Ham only raised an eyebrow when I picked the spot and didn’t say a word as we took the elevator up to the theatres.

Ham knew that when the movie was over and I was hyped up on sugar and popcorn butter that I would want to race through the almost empty parking garage, pushing my little Mini Cooper to speeds it should not be driving in.

That’s exactly what I’m doing.

It’s quiet inside the car, save for the rev of the engine, and anyone watching would assume Ham is silent because he doesn’t want to distract me. Maybe. But I’m quietly racing my car around to distract myself so I won’t say the wrong thing.

What do you say when you accidently touch hands with your best friend, and end up holding it for the rest of the movie?

The hand that is now fisted on Ham’s lean, khaki-clad thigh.

“You shouldn’t be allowed to drive immediately after watching a Fast and Furious movie.” He winces as I come a little too close to the wall during my whip up the spiral exit ramp.

Ham chuckles. “There should be a time limit. Maybe twenty-four hours to let the adrenaline dissipate. For the sake of other motorists.”

“Yeah? Who’s going to stop me?”

I’m not sure if Ham might actually be able to wrestle my keys from me—he stopped sparring with me last year, but I’m game for him to try.

As in, I’m game for a little tussle that might possibly end with me on my back on the ground, Ham’s long body covering mine, and that mouth that barks out orders hovering so close to mine that it would be impossible not to—
