He shifted his stance and scratched the back of his neck. “Well, what are you still doing here?” he popped his head back into the office. “Hey, everyone else is gone. I’m sending Jennifer home early.”

I flashed a tight smile. “Well, that’s sweet of you, thanks.” He watched me as I shut down my computer, unplug my phone and purse. A flush ran through my body, knowing he might stare at my backside right now. I couldn’t blame him. This skirt was one of the best ones for that. I glanced over at Laura, who was mouthing ‘go for it’. “Oh, I still need you to add me to your Google calendar. if I’m going to be working for you, I’ll need access and so I can get it situated with my style of work.”

“You have a style? Like isn’t a calendar just that? You input text, date, and time? I’m confused.”

Oh gosh, don’t embarrass yourself in front of him. Get yourself together, girl. “I’ll get it all switched over and set up and then I’ll explain it to you.”

He bit his lip, leaving a tinge of red. “Sounds perfect. Well goodnight, Jennifer. See you in the morning.”

When he walked out of the vicinity to the elevators, my chest heaved. It was unprofessional to get hot and bothered by my boss.

Boutique Boss

Samantha Long

Chapter One

I’m on the phone with my best friend, EarPods in, listening to her complain about her mother trying to convince her it’s time to give her a grandchild. They’ve haven’t even had the wedding shower yet, and her mother is already pressuring Lila to have all the kids. I’m also focusing on the new website design I’m trying to finalize for the boutique when someone outside the window catches my eye. Taking a deep breath, I force my eyes back to the screen. Staring at my employee, even one as handsome as Adam, is a mistake. It will only lead to unrequited wanting and maybe a lawsuit.

With a new boutique about to open, a lawsuit would definitely crush my dream before it officially comes true.

The website is exactly how I want it, fresh and clean with pops of rose gold. I don’t know why I keep messing around with it, staring at it like something is going to change before I hit complete.

“Georgia?” Lila says my name, exasperation clear in her tone.

“Sorry. I’m looking at the website again.”

We both sigh. Me because I know I’ll look at it a thousand times before I submit it and her because she’s tired of her mother.

The bell above the door chimes and I look up. Adam’s walking in, an honest to God tool belt slung over his hips. I try to keep my mouth from watering.

“Let me go, Lila. Adam’s here.”

“Hmm. Go converse with your super hot handyman.”

The tips of my ears turn red as my face heats. Thank god he can’t hear her. I end the call and set the phone on the counter. “What is it?”

Adam tilts his head a little, his gaze assessing, before he says, “The flower pots and risers are in. Do you want to see them?”
